I haven't seen the folks in here talk about Munecat but she fucking rules Another lessar known but awesome youtuber is Pillar of garbage. Loves his Marvel Cartoons but looks at it from a leftist slant. Even breaksdown a SpongeBob episode about the suburbs.
Might have to start giving majority report some money after Sam’s whole hearted support of Clarence Thomas dying
^Would be sweet to watch the Rs try to argue against replacing one POC with another on the Supreme Court.
Watching Sam trying to say that as nicely as possible was hilarious. Even when trump was laid up he wasn’t that overt in wishing death on someone
I was gonna post Majority Report video where they talk to a guy about how rank and file union members largely support M4A, but Union leadership is hesitant because what would they negotiate for if healthcare is off the table. But then I bailed on the post because we’re never getting m4a and it’s a pointless conversation Eat at arbys
Sine Die for the GA General Assembly is today. Leftist and liberal candidates are going into campaign season. When we call asking for a few bucks, be kind. It's the least favorite part of running for all of us. If you want to support a great candidate for the GA Senate, invest in this guy... https://secure.actblue.com/donate/sd18
Trilbillies have been wearing thin on me for a while. Them dumping on Star Wars might be the nail in the coffin for me. SAD!
Precisely. And more politicians on the Left should be running on the 4 day work week. Unions could help in that regard, obviously
I think I remember Chuck Rocha saying something similar although I can't read the article because of the paywall
Not sure if opinion pieces from Texas Republican House candidates are considered authoritative but ok
I haven’t seen this term used by white liberals but this is something you seem real hung up on for some reason. I hope you continue to enjoy your own personal culture war here
That's weird. I thought this was the thread where we discussed leftist issues, and Democrats are losing Latinos at an alarming rate. My mistake. https://www.pewresearch.org/hispani...anics-have-heard-of-latinx-but-just-3-use-it/ https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opini...nx-offends-or-bothers-them-here-s-ncna1285916
Also, I'll admit this is a personal bugaboo for me, but the gender-neutral term for Latino is Latin. The 'x' serves no purpose but a small cadre of activists feel like they accomplished something.
It's been a while, but I listened to a podcast where this was discussed. I think the guy may have been the one Butthead mentioned. He basically said that LBGTQ Latin people started using LatinX. Then other people started using it to be respectful. Not that white libs are forcing it onto Latino and hispanics to make them woke or something Then of course, the right has turned into another culture war wedge issue.
Do you really see that many people use LatinX? Maybe it's more prevalent in Texas. But I sure dont see it all that often. It seems like someone is attempting to make a mountain out of a mole hill here. (Not you specifically, but this notion that it's out of touch white libs forcing it upon others). It's really not that hard. You refer to someone however you refer to them. Then they say, actually I prefer Latin, Latino, LatinX. ect Then you respect their wishes.
Nobody asked me, but I think Democrats should just run on issues that benefit all people, but especially the working class. That way, you don't even have to bother with this idiotic premise that Latin and Hispanic people are switching to the Republican party because of some weird word that no one uses.
No, it's just an own goal that serves no purpose for Democratic efforts. If one of the 150 LGBTQ Latin people in America wants to be referred to that personally, sure. But centering Latinx does nothing but alienating an important demographic for minuscule benefit.
Latinx is just the latest in liberal solutions to non-existent problems that has been seized upon by reactionaries as yet more ammo for the unending culture war.
Doesn't even matter, because now the Republicans just make up crazy shit like CRT in elementary school math textbooks and Disney is sexualizing children, and no one calls them on it.
This is where you're losing me, I really don't think there's any nationally known "Democrats" who have been pushing for this term to be adopted. Sure activists are, but the party as a whole has basically continually ran away from cultural issues like this. Just like no Democrat has ran on defunding the police, but any and all activism gets linked to liberal politicians like they have any actual agency.
