Doubt it. And he's beyond the reproach of public backlash to personnel moves. Not really something he ever has to answer to. If we are being charitable to him, then the final call on pressing the Rebuild button maybe wasnt signed off by Blank or the moron Mckay. But imo Fontenot seemed to want to run it back 1 time.
Doesn't mean it’s right. I want a GM that doesn’t give in to the whims of fans. The Braves do, and that’s worked out swimmingly.
Don't think anyone was saying its right or wrong. Just speculating why he waited a year to start the rebuild.
Would obviously think Terry is going to be scrutinized most intensely over this upcoming draft. He needs to hit at a much higher pace than TD did.
If you want the rebuild to be quick and successful, the only true answer is for everyone to pray to your respective deity that Jalen Mayfield takes a giant leap foward.
Mariota can still play. I’ll die on this hill until he proves me wrong. The falcons aren’t planning on tanking like the fans want them to. No nfl team loses on purpose
It's not necessarily losing on purpose, it's building a team with talent that, no matter how hard they play, no matter how much they try and want to win, will lose.
You can't go into a season broadcasting that you're not even gonna try at the QB position, the Mariota signing was a necessity. The Carter rental though, way less so and it'd be much better to have a middle round pick
During the season I was hoping we'd tank to be able to draft Thibodeaux, now it looks like enough guys have emerged that we should get a top tier pass rusher if we want one. Are we still thinking WR though?
Really hope we take the long view concerning this rebuild, we’re not 1-2 seasons away from competing. build this team from the inside out and don’t reach for a QB in an effort to sell tickets. I’m just fine with not competing for a few years just have a vision that stretches further than 1-2 seasons. I’m asking too much considering the average tenure of coaches, GMs and given this franchise’s history but that’s what I want.
Serious, build an Oline like the 90s Cowboys and a DLine like the '11 Giants and go from there. I legit tired of watching Falcon football where quality skill guys are wasted behind really bad line play.
I saw a mock that had us taking Kayvon at 8 (Obama not bad dot jpeg) and trading back into the first round to take Corral at 31 (oh no why dot jpeg) take a WR at 8, go defense and OL with the rest of the picks and find a RB you like in 4 or 5. Go 4-13 this year and swing at a QB next year when there are better options and you have a clean cap. This doesn’t seem hard but we are the falcons so we will screw this up. If Fontenot doesn’t nail this draft I’m gonna think he’s trash and Arthur blew it again. Pitts is a unicorn. The rest of the draft underwhelmed
Im happy with Pitts too, but it does sting we didn't get Parsons. Our defense has so many needs, he would have helped a ton. Its going to suck if we pass on KT too. I think we've got a grab a great pass rusher if we think one is there, but it does seem like the momentum is headed towards another WR. Someone joked but it was probably true that J Williams was headed our way before his injury
Possibility they don't survive after this season no matter what happens. Blank needs someone to sacrifice after his Watson pet project fell through.
If we got a really good WR at 8 and then one Edge/CB/OL that is an NFL-level player out of the next three picks I'd feel like it's a win.
If we go WR I would love to trade back a few spots. Get a few picks and still land a really good player like Jameson Williams
Remarkable that this jabroni thinks we’re going to somehow nail late fourth and fifth round picks and not take the Kendall Sheffield and Ito Smiths of the world.
You make it sound so simple so let's see how it gets screwed up. Not sure how good this year's DT class is but would think that is up in the list of priorities too.
We are just signing a bunch of cheap players at all positions of need so we can be free to go BPA in the draft. All of these are 1 year contracts on players with starting experience. Remove the Watson shit and we’ve had a nice offseason ♂️
8. Atlanta Falcons Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State I'm going to stick with this prediction because ... who is Marcus Mariota going to throw to next season? The Falcons just don't have any starting-caliber receivers. Wilson can run every route and beat defenders after the catch. He could be the early favorite for rookie of the year if he lands here -- he'd get a bunch of targets. Atlanta will likely be tracking the edge rushers closely, but there isn't value at this point on my board. Kiper is what he is, but multiple 1300 yard receivers in the last 2-3 years to no NFL starters. 2023-2024 can’t get here soon enough.
I was reading where most don't like us taking a WR at 8 with such a deep WR class. I really don't give a shit unless one of the elite edge guys is there.
I have honestly moved into position where I'd rather take an edge, OT or CB at 8 and then take George Pickens in the 2nd. Disclaimer: I reserve the right to change this many times before now and the draft.
I'd be down with edge, OT, CB, or Kyle Hamilton at 8. Then get WR's later in the draft, its a deep ass WR class
This sounds good to me though Im convinced that if Ridder is available they will take him with the first of the 2 second rounders.
