Only people making real money are pushing huge amounts of pairs. The average person thinking they’re going to make money wastes their time
I’m sure counterfeit sneakers get through often. I’ve gotten some pairs with no wrapping inside and missing laces
I mean allow SNKRS to be botted like crazy and then try and destroy a secondary market source is p shitty in my opinion.
Nike Inc. escalated its legal battle with sneaker marketplace StockX, saying it purchased four pairs of counterfeit shoes on the platform despite the company’s promises that it is only marketing authentic footwear. The world’s largest athletic-wear maker asked a federal judge to let it add claims of counterfeiting and false advertising to the current trademark-infringement lawsuit against StockX. “Those four pairs of counterfeit shoes were all purchased within a short two-month period on StockX’s platform, all had affixed to them StockX’s ‘Verified Authentic’ hangtag, and all came with a paper receipt from StockX in the shoe box stating that the condition of the shoes is ‘100% Authentic,’” Nike said in a court filing Tuesday. StockX didn’t immediately respond to an emailed request for comment. Nike sued StockX in February in federal court in Manhattan, accusing the marketplace of “blatantly freeriding” on Nike’s trademarks and goodwill with a service called Vault NFTs. StockX argued that its NFTs aren’t digital sneakers but simply listings for physical sneakers that are stored in its vault and can be traded by users. Legal scuffles are breaking out over NFTs as they become more mainstream, attracting major brands ranging from Louis Vuitton to Taco Bell. Nike bought virtual sneaker maker RTFKT for an undisclosed sum in December, and launched its own digital shoes last month. StockX is said to be planning to go public as alternative assets like sneakers and collectibles have become a hot market for investors. The company said in April 2021 that it was valued at $3.8 billion after a secondary tender offering. The case is Nike Inc. v StockX LLC, 22-cv-983, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.
Its weird to see where Nike draws an imaginary line. Pulled the Betsy Ross AM1 and never release them. They pull these and just wait until the heat dies down and give them a release.
I’m also going to remember all the people that said they hate TS and that his shoes are all crap and then will try for these. I’ve got that excel spreadsheet fired up and waiting for May 27
Na I can't blame them for protecting their trademarks. StockX created nft's using Nike's shoes and proceeded to sell them. Stockx could have been cool and just said "yea we fucked up" but they chose not to. They wanted to create a storage feature like Goat but went about it the entirely wrong way.
Snkrs isn't bot like that these days. It's hard to get pairs bc they make 50k when 1m people want them, not bc bots are gobbling up tons of pairs. They left stockx alone until stockx up and created nft's of Nike shoes without Nike's permission. Nike just bought an nft company and are releasing their own sneaker nft's so I can't blame them for protecting their trademarks. Stockx wanted to create a storage system but, like everyone else these days, wanted to make it seem cool so they attached an nft to it. That nft was a digital rendering of a Nike trademark so that's where the issue is.
I don't love Nike but if I was Nike I would also be suing StockX if they made NFTs of my products to make money for themselves especially considering they are entering the same NFT market.
The outrage around TS was silly anyway. they shouldn’t have pulled the Betsy Ross am1s either but it was just bad timing for that release. Too much political heat to sneak that one back into the lineup.
fuck them both imo Nike for creating a need for secondary and StockX and GOAT for charging all those fees and selling fakes. I know the NFT is the meat of the issue here but I think we are glossing over the fact that Nike claims they got fakes from StockX. That’s fucked up. We don’t know how many pairs they bought so it could be a tiny percentage or a huge one. Nevertheless, it’s tucked up for anyone who has gotten fakes.
I don't think anyone believes Nike aren't assholes. However, in the current dispute Stock X are the ones being assholes. Nike's shittiness revolves around issues outside of that specific lawsuit.
I don't think anyone was glossing over it. It was the point of the ig post. Agree we need to know how many they bought.
I think stockx is making a major mistake here. They are biting the hand that feeds them. If Nike wants to destroy them, they can. It'll be costly but they can create a system where you can scan something on the shoe with the snkrs app and it verifies its authentic. People have wanted it for a long time but Nike never gave a fuck enough to do it. Maybe they will now.
Was thinking a barcode of sorts but people will get a real pair make fakes/replicas with the same barcode and send them out. Not sure what the exact answer is.
They can make unique qr codes for each shoe. Ticket master does it for tickets. Same type system would work. They also filed a patent for a blockchain system, not sure how that would work. They can figure it out if they really want to.
I'm sure. Ticketmaster figured it out by making everyone use a cell phone and the barcode changes every second it so you can't replicate it and resell.
Don't they use a qr code on physical tickets that get scanned? I don't do a lot of tickets outside of sporting events and normally those have physical tickets.
I haven't had a physical ticket in quite some time. I took my kid to Globetrotters a few weeks ago and I know I had to use my phone but don't recall if the code changed it might have just been a QR code or barcode. I know with Pearl Jam they have a special ticket through ticket master and it changes constantly.
Congratulations on your success. I wear my NFT Dunks while riding my NFT thoroughbreds in races. It looks kinda funny but YOLO
That or buy only replicas and stick to the man. Before I get dogpiled I’m just joking. The way to fix the fake market is fix the retail market. Make it easier for customers to get real pairs and they won’t see the need to buy replicas. I mean when patent Breds replicas are being sold you know you have a problem.
dblplay1212 Are these Team Red dunks close to Alabama Crimson? They look close in the birds eye view but dark like MSSt in the side view. edit. Doesn’t matter. Didn’t get them.
Got the AM1 Treelines in. These are elite level office sneakers with khakis. My 9 year old loves Naruto so I got him the Naruto Zions that came out for getting straight As all year. He's going to love them or hate them. Spoiler
