Harris is not doing too hot in May, especially the last week, and Waters still only has 1 walk and way too high a K%. Neither is ready to make an impact on this team.
So Matzek to the IL with a sore shoulder, and he has a sore shoulder because he pitched through significant back pain in spring training. Banner job all around, guys. Matzek said his back flared up before spring training and called it “major.” Due to this, he lost his mechanics. “When you do that, different parts of your body start trying to compensate for other parts, and things take on loads that they shouldn’t,” Matzek said. “Just tried to get through it. It’s a normal thing, you know. Most of the time, you make it through it, and sometimes it just flares up so bad that you get it checked out.” “Think it was just compensating for the lack of ability in my back,” he said. “I felt good trying to pitch through the back. Felt like I was going out there and doing OK. I think it just kind of spiraled into another thing, or it could just be totally on its own.”
We're gonna be 10 games back before you know it. It's May and this season feels lost somehow already. This team has been unwatchable. It's also amazing how unfortunate our luck has been with who we decided to sign and no sign. The ones we took have been ass and the ones we let go are killing it. Go figure.
Joc and Victor Arano had excellent Aprils, but their overall numbers now are meh -- though Joc's OPS+ is 125 which is pretty good. Jorge has 7 bombs, but an average under the Mendoza line and an OPS+ of 95. So none are really killing it imo, but still doing better than Duvy (OPS+ 55) and Rosario (OPS+ -26).
The only one who could be considered killing it would be Freeman. He’s got a .404 OBP with a 153 wRC+ and a 151 OPS+.
Was not trying to promote Freeman or bad mouth Olson at 1b. Simply stating that only Freeman has good enough numbers to be considered killing it of the guys we let walk. I mean, his OPS+ and wRC+ are both close to 10% higher than his career average. Again, not really promoting Freeman, just acknowledging stats.
Using him only because of how good he was for the first month. Kind of a bummer the Braves never gave him a chance last season. His numbers still aren't bad btw, his xERA is 2.50, but I think he's cooled since April.
Same. I’m not watching for a bit. Just check this thread and box scores. It’s just such a waste of time.
42.5% K Rate AS A TEAM in the past three games. Lead the league in K rate at a shade under 30%. The gap between us and #29 (Arizona) is as large as the gap between Arizona and #19 (Miami). Unspeakably awful.
Also, the three best K-rates on our team with guys with at least 20+ PAs come from two guys that take daddy hacks at everything within 3 feet of the zone (Ozuna and Oz) and another who quite literally could not see all year (Eddie).
Ozuna should have been on first but I guess it doesn’t matter because Ozzie’s horrible approach would have led to a DP anyway
Man the Brewers have Brian Anderson on every call and we are freaking stuck with Chip. So so unfortunate
With the team playing this way and fucking dipshit chip narrating, had to mute my tv and listen to podcasts. Not paying as much attention, but I’m way less angry fwiw
