All right so I've eaten at Saw's, Dreamland and Rodney Scott's. What BBQ place do I need to hit next?
Moe’s is good. It’s a chain but started in Alabama. I’ll second the Miss Myra’s especially if you haven’t tried smoked chicken with white sauce
Confirmed, ask them to leave some of the fat cap on so they don't trim it off like I think they usually do
moes is the lowest quality bbq of anywhere i can think of. the bar experience keeps the bad bbq in business.
All depends on the proprietor. Wings, catfish, and sides have always been good in my experiences, though.
When your best item is your wings, you probably aren’t a great bbq spot. Thise smoked wings are amazing though. Used to do 25 cent wing nights in college
bartenders at moe's have said some rather fucked up things to my friends over the years so i try to avoid the place wings are good tho
Wings are the best thing at Fox Bros. Pulled pork and brisket tend to underwhelm at the majority of bbq restaurants imo.
For the sake of mentioning the third tier of local BBQ restaurants -- Full Moon's best items are the half dipped cookies. Jim N Nick's has always been fine to me but two different people I know have gotten food poisoning from one location in the past 12 months. Golden Rule usually has decent barbeque but a pretty solid burger. Dmitri's in Homewood has a great breakfast, some good pies, and run-of-the-mill barbeque. Creekside BBQ in Pelham has great burgers but I've yet to try the barbeque.
Not Bham area, but have any of y’all ever had bbq at Smoke-N-Hot in Anniston? It’s really really good.
i know we have some trussvillains in here, the bbq stop in clay right off deerfoot is p good if u want to skip the chains
Quick question: if you were taking out-of-towners to a low-key bar in town tonight, what would you choose? A friend has never visited, but is only available tonight after 8 or so. Staying toward Irondale, I live in Crestwood, don't mind driving Spoiler to avoid Otey's, sry not sry
when they opened back up after initial pandemic closing they were just thursday-sunday and have kept that for some reason
Ngl it was a bit of downer after a long work day...so I had a beer anyway (he gave up for health reasons, not alcoholism).
I had the brisket tacos, the brisket's flavor was a sour and finished my wife's ribs which tasted only of smoke.
in my cunty bbq opinion, even having brisket tacos on the menu excludes you from being in the top tier of alabama bbq
I don’t agree with this, but also I would say it’s easily replicable at your house and nothing that special.
