Is cereal a soup? "I find this question alone offensive. Absolutely not" "Honestly yes" "This is worse than the hot dog sandwich question" If animals could talk, which would be the rudest? "100% cat" "Definitely a chihuahua" "Pigeons"
i watched no reservations: panama the other day can’t stop thinking about the thoughts and memories racing through bourdain’s brain as he’s watching them burn 6 tons of cocaine he played it off pretty well, but man that had to be brutal for an addict to get through
It’s not a downside to me, but if you enjoy living in a small-sized city or larger, you could get really frustrated by the pace and style of life. Especially on the neighbor islands, but even Oahu is rural outside Honolulu, and even Honolulu is limited compared to your typical mainland city. Are concerts, professional sports, live performances, museums, nightlife, etc…an important part of your life? You have to leave those behind. Your free time and social experience will revolve almost completely around the outdoors/water, and in small get-togethers with friends. IMO, people who succumb to island fever aren’t so much claustrophobic as much as they don’t truly love spending every second of their leisure on the beach or trails. A lot of people move here for 6mos or 1-2years and leave, so be prepared to lose friends to the mainland. The distance thing is a blessing/curse. Yeah you’re a long way from the east coast, but the flight to the west coast isn’t that bad, and it’s a lot easier to reach Asia if you like international travel. If a 5hr flight is torture to you, it’s something to consider. I find the time switch more annoying than the distance.
I was just out shopping real quick. I’m backing out of my space, I’m about halfway out of the space when this red f150 starts coming towards me and just doesn’t stop, almost hits me. They park and I pull up wait to talk. “So when someone is backing up you’re supposed to stop and let them back up.” Her was response was sorry didn’t see you. “You didn’t see the person directly in front of you? Bullshit”
You’re here in summer so it’s not quite as noticeable, but sunset is ~6-7:30 year round and most places shut down early compared to the mainland. Even before our kid, we were in bed by 10 most nights. Wake up around 5:30-7 when the sun rises.
I can't imagine confronting someone because they made a dumb driving move in a parking lot or anywhere. You got balls I don't have, bro. Or you're unhinged.
Once I honked at a Tahoe for cutting me off in a parking lot, thinking it was a suburban asshole mom. They slammed on the brakes and from the passenger seat jumped a hard ass looking dude in Detroit gear who looked like he’d dust my ass without a thought and I haven’t honked since.
Current residence is pop 8500 and outdoor living is kinda our jam. I was very much into the things you listed early in life but haven’t done or even jonesed for any of it in years. I think we might be good candidates
I always thought the person backing out was supposed to stop. The person driving has the right of way.
I don't know if this is so much a right of way situation. If you roll up on somebody in the process of backing out of a parking spot, you should stop and let them back out.
Guy cut my uncle off the other day and he honked at him. Guy pulled a gun and pointed it at him. I just assume everyone is crazy at this point.
That reminds me, was at a gas station at like 1:15 Friday night buying milk for my kid. Some nut screams fuck you! I just waived and was like ok sir have a good night. My entire goal in life is to not get murdered over some dumb shit.
Las Vegas was a bit scary in the terms of open carry. I went into a gas station and a woman with a stroller was strapped. So we're 2-3 other people in check out line once I noticed hers. Made me a bit nervous to be the only customer in there w/o a weapon. I don't own a gun fwiw
So I'd have a gun I can't use if need one and ability to buy ammo and blow my brains out anytime. Brilliant
I’ve changed my mind on this. I feel like if it were legitimate, we’d have information from the FDA or state health authorities. Instead, it’s a bunch of silly bs claiming general malaise.
Where was this gas station? Also when I lived there I was on the extreme NW corner of suburbia and there was no shortage of goatee-havin’, cargo shorts and sandal wearin’ dudes with a Dirty Harry sized revolver on their hip in the grocery store or restaurants.
The person backing out usually has the duty to yield, but pragmatically, they’re less likely to see you, so it’s more prudent/safe to let them go first. If they’ve already half- or mostly-backed out before you come upon them, you’re supposed to yield regardless.
We’ve moved on to crossnet with a stop at slippery stairs in between. Oh and now it’s corgi racing. As a retired corgi jockey this is exciting stuff.
