wait what? How do you get me thinking that unfortunately none of this will matter make you think that I’m saying the investigation will lead to his victory?
it’s a moment in history? It’s interesting? I hope I’m wrong? There is a literal meme about trump getting away with everything. Is it crazy to believe it would continue that way?
All I’m saying is that a public investigation as to what happened the day the president staged a coup isn’t exactly a big ask
It only be historic if important people go down. The emotional hedging that people do that nothing is going to happen is just kind of tiring. No one knows what's going to happen.
Yeah a copy/paste comment of this is already all over comments regarding the hearing today. It’s probably just Rudy texting someone to say that and they’ll run with it as fact because it will give them a conspiracy theory on why they weren’t allowed to testify and if they do and tell the truth then they’re just lying.
I read your post as saying that the investigation would flip people to vote for him. If you meant that none of this will lead to anything, I unfortunately agree. The investigation is important, but nothing of substance will come of it.
It’s not emotional hedging. It’s watching the multitude of obvious high crimes and misdemeanors that Trump has committed in broad daylight and not been brought to justice by Mueller, Garland, and the United States Senate. I’ve not heard a single credible person report that charges are likely/expected. Have you? I’d love to see it. He should absolutely be in jail.
Yeah there's tweets posted in this thread. Do you want Garland himself to comment? Nate Silver is an above the fray moron and he thinks he should be indicted. There's conversations being had about whether a president should be indicted in tweets in this thread. The need to be in this thread but still being "I totally don't believe anything will happen for sure though" is just bizarre.
Doesn’t this post necessarily imply that it’s an open question as to whether Trump will be indicted? If so, isn’t it a reasonable position to believe, at this point, that the most likely outcome is that Trump is not convicted? It’s wild to think that one can only be interested in this or comment if they believe that Trump will face consequences. That requires faith in a system that has been proven to be pretty fucking broken lately. Obviously, Merrick Garland is likely not going to comment directly on the matter, but I absolutely believe that reporters would know if he was drawing up an indictment.
Trump fucking bribed Zelenskyy and nothing happened. He was caught on the phone trying to pressure Raffensperger to find 13k votes and nothing happened. I’m not sure why this is significantly different at this point.
I have no idea if What I’m doing qualifies for this new term emotionally hedging, but what I am actively doing is venting my anxiety to a really fucking shitty and stressful situation to like minded and more or less informed individuals, of which I don’t have many in my real life. This shit sucks ass and I’m fine with anyone who wants to come in here and vent about it for a couple of sentences. Even if it’s “emotionally hedging”
I know no one knows what is going to happen. I’m not claiming I do. I just don’t think anything is going to happen. IDK why having that belief should stop me from reading the thread. While I might be wrong I bet you lean toward the nothing will happen side too.
yeah we are on the same page. Maybe I worded wrong but I agree that this needs to happen but nothing will come of it. I think that is what fucktx was implying too. It’s important but no one important will be held accountable.
gate keeping is weird don’t be weird how is believing nothing will happen to trump not “letting things play out”
What if I really like being informed about the news but am skeptical that the accountability I think should happen will actually happen?
I’m generally curious after 5+ years of illegal shit happening why people think THIS is the time that trump is going to go down As Daniel Ocean said, we all hope it happens, but why would you expect anyone to stand up to him now? Republicans aren’t throwing him under the bus because then they lose a portion of their base. Democrats won’t do anything, ever.
I think most are aware of the reality, it just gets annoying and comes off as condescending when people feel the need to constantly remind you of it.
what are we supposed to do? cheer with all this shit coming out and then be disappointed when it doesn’t happen? that’s even more depressing imo
I wish they wouldn't have even told the steering wheel part. It's totally irrelevant and everyone is fixating on it because it's gossipy
I agree with you, but the DOJ bringing charges against trump and getting him in front of a jury made up of non senators is a much lower bar to clear than impeachment. It probably will not happen, but it’s… plausible.
I think Trump trying to do everything he could to get to the capitol is pretty relevant. him wanting the crowd to be armed isn’t getting enough attention though.
This so-called "Cassidy" Hutchinson person is obviously a Phony! We all know the ketchup tale can't be true, the dining room where Trump eats his well done steaks with ketchup are locked and only he can open the partition and throw his plate at the wall. He only uses the squeezey ketchup bottle that won't leak! No leaks! ipso facto the whole testimony is a lie.
There isn’t anyone reading this that doesn’t have a healthy skepticism about the people capable of holding Trump accountable for trying to overthrow American democracy. I just don’t think doomerism is a more sensible alternative.
Understanding that nobody has a crystal ball, what do you think the chances are that Trump is charged with crimes and goes to trial for this?
That's been the most talked about thing on msnbc and cnn all day as well. I get that it's funny to think about some old fat guy go after someone, but that was one of the least damning things during a pretty wild testimony
It paints an evocative picture, something dems typically fancy themselves above. But Americans sure as fuck aren't above it, and it's 30 years past when we should've realized it
This is a hard hitting question to ask an idiot from the internet. Cynically, it is probably tied more to gas prices in September than application of the law. So whatever Biden’s approval rating on September 1st is my answer.
I think they should focus more on the President wanting a mob to lynch the Vice-president on the capitol steps. That shits wild!
Obviously I don’t know what’s going to happen. But, the fact that there is an actual possibility that he could win again after all this is crazy.
All I said was that the most likely outcome was that nothing would happen. I'd love to know if anybody on here actually disagrees with that statement.
While I agree, I think it will be more fun if I zag, and start pretending believing in Merrick Garland having a spine. My guy, Gardawg is a double Harvard grad… fucking hell. Shit.
