I’d like to get something for my wife but it’s just ridiculous right now. I could probably get a good price for my 2007 trailblazer with 69k miles but it’s so expensive even for used cars now it’s not worth it.
Gonna keep driving my cars until they’re hot fucking garbage heaps. Biggest wastes of money on the planet.
I paid off my 2012 Camry (HYBRID) 3-4 years ago and sold it last year, so haven't had a car payment in a long time. Not having a car is pretty awesome, saving a lot of dough between car payments/insurance/gas, but somewhat impractical at times. Thinking about leasing something next year after another spell abroad. I live with my GF and she drives a Tacoma stick-shift -- and I don't know how to drive a manual -- so it's real fun pulling up to parties and friends' houses. Lesser men may find this emasculating, but not me.
You should probably learn how, just in case of an emergency. And if you’re just looking for something with good fuel efficiency to drive around the city and is cheap, you can get a Chevy Spark for $15k new.
I hate driving too. It is almost always for going to and from work and that’s not fun. If you have to drive her truck in an emergency, just fight your way into third gear and you should be fine.
It’s plausible that they made the choice to happily live in a less expensive home to be able to afford other items that make them happy.
My wife is oblivious to anything that is happening when she is in the passenger seat. I'd driver her to the same place a dozen times and she wouldn't know how to get there. Same when we go on walks in the neighborhood. Went went 1 street out of the way and was completely lost.
My wife is the same. It’s like she enters a fugue state and doesn’t retain any knowledge of what’s happening outside of the vehicle.
I’d like to buy a new Tacoma but lots near big cities don’t have a new one on them. I’m waiting till Christmas at the earliest
Fifteen years ago my financially idiotic sister traded in a perfectly good and paid off Saturn sedan for a new pickup because her boyfriend had one and she wanted one too
What happens to Ford if Ford Motor Credit implodes? I don't think the suggestion is that car prices are going to fall of a cliff, but these car manufacturers can be in deep shit if their finance arm fails. And if default/repo numbers skyrocket, they'll clamp down on underwriting and make it harder to get a loan. Less loans = less buyers. Less buyers = softer market.
I often think about living in a trailer. The older I get, the more I think about pulling the trigger.
I feel like I might be getting DBL'd here, but why would they implode when they aren't making nearly enough cars to meet demand? My point was that there's tremendous slack in the market, and calls of impending doom seem pretty far fetched. I read that twitter thread, and it seems to have some very cherry picked data points. After further investigation, the author seems to be a 20something year old youtuber and "Personal Finance Enthusiast." AutoNation just purchased an automobile finance company, so they don't seem too worried about the "impending collapse."
Do you know what Ford Motor Credit does? How about GM Financial? They don't make cars. Supply/demand doesn't affect them. Clients not paying their monthly bills do affect them, and that's an issue right now and it's probably going to get worse. If you don't like that author, maybe you'll like these instead. https://www.barrons.com/articles/recession-cars-bank-repos-51657316562 https://www.autoblog.com/2022/07/11/car-repossessions-on-the-rise/ https://www.latimes.com/politics/st...ar-prices-are-way-up-and-the-repo-man-is-back
Seems like renting would be the better alternative to a trailer with how badly and quickly they deteriorate.
I want to build out a school bus, use it for vacations, and live in it when my kiddos are gone. Wife thinks I'm nuts. I haven't ruled that out.
How the democrats continue to play politics with a party that has no platform and has an entire agenda of just saying no to what your base wants bottles the mind. How I envision a democratic strategy meeting- "Our base wants to defund the police and put resources elsewhere. Of course the right is anti-defunding police lolrite #BLM #VOTE. We need to show our base that we are against not defunding the police and fund them to prove the right wrong #Kobe #RIP"
So, this guy represents an R+20 district. I know nothing about him, but it's possible he's pro-gay marriage and simply voting along the preference of his district. I mean, I doubt it, but that's beside the point. I bring this up simply as a philosophical question. Do y'all think politicians should govern according to their personal convictions or merely as a representative of their constituents?
Whether they would like to admit it publicly or not, every single one of these ghoulish GOP assholes has LGBTQ+ people in their immediate family. Yet these motherfuckers vote like fucking Ya’ll Queda every goddamn time. They hate their families and they hate themselves. And for what? Fuck these assholes. Fuck em all.
