Ordered a 7 45mm non-cellular for 269 from Costco. $429 is the apple store price, so I’m good with that. If there is somehow a better deal, I’ll return it to Costco unbothered.
I have a stainless series 5. Want to upgrade. Once 8 comes out I’ll get a used 7. They are already half off new. comparing the titanium to stainless. Matte silver vs gloss stainless. concerned the titanium may just look like the aluminum. Need to go to Apple Store. Anyone compare them?
Anyone ever had issues with CarPlay not showing up on your vehicle? When I plug it in the phone is charging so the truck is detecting the phone, however no CarPlay is popping up anymore.
It stopped working this past weekend. My phone needed an update then but I hadn’t done it so I updated on Monday. Tried Tuesday and still the same thing.
Ford Sync4a has been a pain in the ass. More often than not I have to go to the phone menu and hit connect, and sometimes that doesn’t work. Wireless and wired.
I have done the unpair thing and no luck. My truck only is able to do wired CarPlay so it has to be plugged in. I guess my other option is to do a master reset on the Sync system and see if that works. If not I guess I’ll need to get it checked out. Gonna try CarPlay out in my wife’s Yukon today and see if it’s the phone or my truck causing the issue.
Yep still nothing. Gonna do a full reset of sync and see if that fixes it. If not I guess I’ll have to take it in to dealer and see what’s up. Still under warranty.
Also my phone is up to iPhone (9) because it keeps booting it and creating a new profile of the phone or something. Not sure how that works.
Happens all the time with mine. I usually unplug it and plug it back in and it will work. I drive a Mazda and even when it works it will take 15-20 seconds to connect for some reason. No issues with my wife's Audi.
no. Att chat support was useless. Asked if I wanted to get a new #? Fuck no I need to call real tech support I guess. I thought it was my (ex now) snooping on my location somehow. Insecure af
Picked up certified refurbished silver stainless Apple Watch 7. Delivers in a day. Then I’ll sell my 5 on eBay. Saved $140 over new but it’s basically new. eBay options looked sketchy. Unclear if these would drop post series 8 but I don’t care. And don’t care about series 8 feature add.
Anyone picked up the Airpods Max? At the price point, I feel like there's so many over-the-ear options that probably have better sound. The apple functionality, if you're fully invested in that environment, is hard to beat though. Rumor the 2nd gen will get debuted next month when they show the 14.
I’d wait. Rumors of somehow allowing for lossless audio using wireless. Maybe wifi and AirPlay. Unsure. I’m wary of high end wireless headphones because of the audio loss with wireless.
sold my series 5 for $200. Net $450 to upgrade from 5 to 7. Same silver stainless. Including a new sport band worth $50. So net $400 I guess
I really like them. The flawless switching from phone to iPad and unreal transparency and noise cancelling is worth the purchase and all of those features are better than my Sony xm4’s. There are better pure sound headphones but the functionality of the Max is hard to beat.
It’s trash and basically useless other than putting them to power save mode. I bought a 3rd party hard case.
If I was still traveling like I was in 2019, I’d be switching, no question. Not sure I can warrant it now when my primary headphone use is the gym. BTW, anyone that has older Pros: my right(more noticeably) occasionally went all staticky while in any non-normal listening mode. Did some googling and it’s a known issue. Took them to a store, they stuck them in some testing chamber, and replaced both for free under warranty.
My wife informed me last night she needs a new phone. I inquired as to why, and she explained its because she is out of storage. She has 119 gigs of photos that she says she can't delete. I am now looking at options to offload these photos outside of using icloud. Has anyone ever set up a PhotoPrism server? I am considering setting one up to offload her photos and merge those with a ton of photos from her old Mac. I was wondering if anyone had ever done something similar?
Amazon? They have a big refurbished MacBook program. Might not be the absolute cheapest option, but I like the convenience of dealing with Amazon.
Why not just optimize storage on the phone and have the original, hi-res photo stored on iCloud? I've never used an outside server so I could be missing functionality.
If you or your wife use any of the other Apple services (music, TV, news, etc) I’d consider their bundled package. $29.99/mo and you get 2TB of storage. It’s seamless AF
I purchased a 4-5 year old Mac book pro from a guy on FB market or Craigslist then did ram and SSD myself. It’s 10 years old at this point and performs just as well for home browsing and random use as my wife’s new HP laptop.
I'm sure. That's been my biggest issue with Apple watches though. Charging every day is a pain in the ass. If they can figure out sleep tracking I might finally get rid of my fitbit.
Forgive my ignorance, but both my wife and I have our individual phones and I have always backed up my device locally and never had a need for iCloud. Therefore I haven’t dug into what it can and or can’t do. One of the goals was to create a single repository rather than having multiple iCloud accounts. It’s not a much cost rather than trying to find the best solution. I figured rather than both setting up individual iCloud storage accounts, I could setup a shared photo server which allows us to import photos from other sources with shared albums. If iCloud can facilitate that, it may be the best route.
You should 100% set up an Apple family account and set up the icloud backup. You can do all that crap natively with the iPhone. I have shared albums for each kid that have I shared with family members to keep things off social media. Backing up your device locally to a computer is 2007 tech.
I bought a MacBook Air 2015 11 inch on Amazon for $200. My 2017 MBP stopped charging, so I took it into apple and they said it would take $500 to fix. But now I got it to charge again so I'm just going to return the MacBook Air. Or maybe keep it for travel if I like it.
Some neat features, but nothing that seems worthy of an upgrade. Not really too interested in safety features (fall & crash)
So what new do you get in the Watch 8 compared to Watch 7 other than temperature sensor? Sounds like I should just get a new 7 or even an SE for cheaper than buying the 8...
My buddy bought a MacBook Air from this site. Said it was shipped super fast and they have a 30 day money back guarantee if you change your mind. He hasn’t had any trouble. Decided to pull the trigger on a MacBook Pro 2019 this past weekend. https://www.backmarket.com/en-us/l/macbooks-retina/275872d6-9e6c-46d6-b387-58be5152b530
