I couldn't tell you what Chryst's Wiscy has even looked like on the whole. Tough with OSU dominating the conference. Feel like he made a B1G championship or two?
theyve been trending down the last 3 years, even with a 9 win season last year more instances of getting their asses kicked and offensive development was starting to really fall off
I think they've just Nebraska'd themselves. Meaning they're firing of Pelini was insanely stupid. Wisconsin is never going to be and never has been a legitimate title contender, and they and Nebraska in this day and age should be thrilled with teams that win 8 or 9 games regularly. Wisconsin is long overdue for a drop off a cliff.
75 of their rush yards came against us on 1 play when they kept their starters in vs. our backups on D
If you're not one of the top 6-8 teams in this new climate of NLI and everyone recruit wanting to play for a playoff competitor, you're not going to be anything more than a good, 8 win type of team at best most years.
The big tends bottom teams have improved a lot lately. NW is the only team in the They started 1-3 during that 9 win season... only win was EMU
They are going to promote Leonhard and continue to just be Wisconsin, right? He'll hire a young hot shot OC (Weis Jr. come on down) and that OC will slowly morph into an I-form guy.
all of the b1g programs are about to be absolutely swimming in cash to the point where clemson's budget would be a rounding error for rutgers. Now is the time to go all as every non-b1g and SEC team is permanently shut out from top level football.
We're not though. We play bad teams and have had a lot of shittiness masked by our run of top RBs and their production. And it's not about us losing, it's how we've been losing.
Probably but they could likely get Leipold if they want. Seems like the better move even if it means losing Leonhard.
literally winless against p5 this season and completely uncompetitive in 2 of those games guy damn near made a playoff with alex hornibrook, but it was time to go
Wisconsin was a basement dweller until Alvarez hit the scene. I guess thinking Leonhard is the guy you have to have and making the move is one thing, but trust me, choosing the hot young wunderkind over consistency isn’t alway the best idea.
Exactly. Don't punt in winning seasons every year because you think a fresh perspective will get you better results. Especially when you're historically a JAG program.
PC is a great dad type guy, bleeds cardinal and white. He does recruit well, fundraise worth a darn, isn't sexy, doesn't have a big recruiting department, doesn't like the direction of college football, hasn't chewed out a ref in his lifetime and is boring to watch.
Pelini never got to the level Wisconsin did under Chryst. Pelini's teams got embarrassed by Wisconsin.
This guy lives by himself miles and miles away unfortunately * not that there's much wrong with that, but most aren't happy he does
He's in his late 50s. His dad died in his mid 50s. I think Wisconsin was his dream job. I would hope he'd just retire.
I was schadenfreude'ing pretty hard today listening to a Wisconsin podcast whining about Chryst's body language It was amazing
Luckily these programs now have a ridiculous amount of money to make wildly short term decisions with.
Should have seen if you could have traded Chryst for Brian Ferentz? We’d take that deal in a heartbeat.
i can't tell if this is metaphorical or not. do you mean he literally lives alone and off campus? why would anyone care if so?
I have to think that this is just to hand it to Leonard. There are other interesting options for them with local ties though.
