what is this point you keep trying to make? That Ohio state is usually much better than the rest of the big ten? We all know this. Same is true for Georgia and Alabama.
Yes, Ohio state is one of the 5-7 programs where you have to really fuck the pooch to not win 10 games. We get it.
Pretty telling most of the buckeyes blew right past one of their own posters attacking an uninvolved trans kid in a widely used thread because sports edit- didn’t realize he was talking about stroud, but I’m not sure that’s any better
Saw on Twitter: Ohio State is built to beat Michigan State by 50, Michigan is built to beat Ohio State
Unsurprising. There are a few very good buckeye posters here…the rest are pretty thin-skinned with a limited sense of humor. Feel bad for the players and those good posters. But for the rest of them, today couldn’t have happened to a more deserving group.
First of all lol at the unintentional irony of “we”. That’s the point there is no denying that the top teams in the SEC are great and no one ever does. What is being said that the claim they Ohio State plays only one game in the B1G is the similar to the top teams in the SEC. The difference is the mediocre teams in the SEC get pumped up like no others. Last week LSU was great and a&m was shit. After today the narrative won’t be that maybe LSU isn’t as good as was said but that a&m is better than believed. It’s the same shit every year.
This is not true. In terms of depth, the SEC has had 6 different schools win a natty in the last 25 seasons. Three of those schools have won it 3 or more times. Shit we will never see half as many B1G or Pac 12 schools win just one in our lifetimes. As evidenced by the titles, there is much, much better depth in the SEC than other conferences with much stronger programs overall. Alabama is the greatest dynasty the sport has seen and we lose a game nearly every single season. It is a much tougher league most every year and I think the 12 team playoff will continue to bear that out.
OSU played one game this year. Georgia played 2 and one of those teams lost 3 games and the other was wood shedded by South Carolina. Maybe the teams at the top change more in the sec but that doesn’t mean its tough top to bottom every year. My argument is all conferences are top heavy. But, just the sec isn’t called on that. Georgia might be great but after them the other good teams in the SEC aren’t any better than the good teams in other conferences. At the beginning of the year a bunch of SEC teams will be overrated and lose and the narrative won’t be “they were overrated but the teams they lost to were underrated” “you guys don’t understand ever week in the SEC is a grind”.
That’s some great history but the BCS system was stupid and favored the SEC. There have been 13 teams who have made the CFP. 3 from the Big Ten and SEC, 2 from the PAC 12 and ACC (depending on where you put ND), and then 1 from each of the Big 12, AAC, and Independent. I’m not buying the much much better depth argument.
You point out the irony of "we" but you are a pac guy rushing to the defense of the big. All of y'all have a little brother us vs them syndrome. In reality I think the pac is a damn good conference this year. Way better than the big. Anyway, those mediocre SEC teams still have a ton of good players and specifically good players in the trenches. Go look at the composite talent rankings. No one wants to play lsu or tamu on a so called easy week.
How did the BCS system favor the SEC? I look forward to the 12 team playoff (though I'm sure that'll somehow favor the SEC as well) so the sports has less of these type of arguments.
I'm not saying UM is better than UGA. But who are UGA's best wins? Or anyone in the SEC for that matter. They certainly aren't better than OSU and PSU. *Going to be ranked 5th and 8th most likely.
Those teams or horrible and Florida still beat Utah. They made perhaps the worst QB in America a Heisman candidate for a week.
I’m not defending my fellow bIg members. I’m simply pointing out why saying any team only “plays one game” is dumb. It can be said for just about every top team in every conference. The SEC has always benefited from media hype. Sorry you had to find out this way.
I'm not a huge conference pride guy. Fuck the rest of these teams. But the difference between Ohio State and Michigan and the rest of that conference, is way bigger than the gap between Bama/Georgia and the next few teams here. Look at the championship games, you'd rather play an admittedly down LSU than Purdue?
We beat #1 in the playoff ranking at the time. That win obviously looks worse now. Same with Oregon. I'd have no problem with Michigan being #1. Probably better for us.
It was founded by a former SEC commissioner and had to be disbanded because of dumb bullshit like having LSU-Alabama playing in the championship game after they had already played in the regular season. #Oklahoma State Cowboys was robbed
Before we got sidetracked by all the conference vs conference shit.. I said the floor at osu is like 10 wins. They've lost more than 1 conference game exactly once since 2005. They've won less than 10 games twice. This is an auto pilot school if there ever was one. The baseline is higher in the last 15 years than bama or Georgia.
if OSU and UM were in different divisions we might have the same opportunity of two top teams meeting in CCG.
LSU lost to Florida State in Louisiana back when the Noles were still trying to figure things out. It was a joke they had them at 5. Not that long ago in the same season they had miss st and ole miss in the top three at some point in the same season and both finished about 6-6. Win one game in the SEC and the media will hype you to the heavens.
