Fire Day, bucks. Forget this "you don't fire an 11-1 coach" nonsense pseudo-dogma. You're Ohio State, and Fickell would show up tomorrow. Take it from a Husk with 20 years of bad memories after not firing Solich at the end of the '01 season
With the playoff moving to 12 teams, winning “The Game” doesn’t even matter going forward. That’s just the sad reality. Day will be at Ohio State for awhile, for better or worse.
The Game will always matter. Ohio State can fire Day anytime they want. They're completely in charge of this situation and Day has zero leverage
And it would be pretty idiotic to fire a coach that takes you to the playoff 95% of the time simply because his philosophy doesn’t work against a single team. I get that that particular team is your rival, but rivalries become way less important with a 12 team playoff.
Ryan Day isn't the reason tOSU makes the playoff. tOSU is the reason they make the playoff. And they know it
that's not something you're gonna be able to sell to that particular fanbase, especially if he's not winning the playoff
you guys put more emphasis on that rivalry than just about any fanbase in America (not necessarily saying that's a bad thing either) if Riley lost to ND every year but was winning the Big 10 and making the playoff most years I wouldn't have him on the hot seat at any point
Think there will be a lot more forgiveness if he still makes the 12 team playoff, as long as he wins a game each time. Lose to UM and lose in the playoff = gone.
#Ohio State Buckeyes Imagine winning nothing of substance having players all timers like CJ Stroud and MHJ. Ooooof.
I’m sure your shift just let out but this would the best you could come up with 2 hours after the game ended?
