I just made my yearly hot stove Jon Heyman follow on Twitter. 50/50 on if I can make it through the week before unfollowing again.
Here for all the rumors of the marlins checking in on every highly sought after player only to be quickly eliminated because they are cheap as fuck.
Letting bagwell have the amount of influence he has is dumb as f but the Astros have an insane amount of starting pitching. Framber McCullers Javier Garcia Urquidy Brown is a dece top 6
You'd rather have Jose Abreu than Justin Verlander? I've seen some weird posts when people were coping with this but this is up there.
Lmbo ok I guess there is no nuance to this argument so have a good one. Just know that you’re wrong as usual
To be fair Verlander is a beast in the post season and I doubt the Astros make the playoffs without him
i'm sure they had interest if he was willing to take a 40% hometown discount. my brother in law has a friend who got really close with kate upton and was over at their house all the time and she said they were going to take the highest offer period. i'm sure that was conveyed to the astros and they did not actively pursue him. but yes it does not make sense to pay $1m per start to verlander. this is their 2023 top 6 starting pitchers and their salaries Framber $7.4m (MLBTR arb estimate) McCullers $15.2m Javier pre-arb Garcia pre-arb Urquidy $3.2m (MLBTR arb estimate) Brown pre-arb so their top six pitchers cost cumulatively less than verlander would. so they could sign verlander and i guess send javier to the bullpen which would be a huge waste or they could allocate that $ to other parts of their roster like trying to extend kyle tucker or jose pena or whoever.
I was furiously tagged because they didn't want to give a guy that pitches 10 times a year a 5 year deal and days later he is replaced with the Cy Young winner
why would you want to replace your negative war first baseman with jose abreu please make it make sense to me
Heyman is chirping that NYY is in constant discussion with Rodon so that means we definitely aren't getting him.
Is this Astros rotation without Verlander supposed to be considered some strength? Short on depth and injury history.
You're conveniently leaving off you gave up the CY winner to do that. I'll take Verlander and Gurriel over Abreu and Urquidy.
he's 40 years old. we are replacing him with mccullers. they will be fine and probably eliminate the yankees in 2023 as usual. maybe you can win a game next time who knows.
