damn, I turned it on when I saw the tweet about 3-2 with 7 minutes and it was already all square. sucks they didn't finish it.
such a missed opportunity, beating two sides from that level would have been epic. they've shown they can compete at higher levels, now please just win the league.
It’s really unfortunate that they didn’t draw a lower tier PL side that would still generate a lot of ticket revenue. like Liverpool.
I don’t really pay attention to wrexham so not sure. Just money whipping the league isn’t that compelling to me tbh
Just finished binging season 1. Love this story. This may be the thing that gets me into futbol. Good way to stream games?
Tuesday they'll be on ESPN+ though for FA Cup (and likely any other cup matches they have but this will probably be the last for this season)
Are there like cash incentives/prizes for players winning FA cup and trophy games? I have a hard time believing these guys are super motivated to play in them in the middle of their league season. I’m sure I’m missing something, but without an analog in any other sport I know, it’s hard to understand the motivation to play really hard in matches that don’t matter in terms of promotion/relegation.
As a club, Wrexham would receive £120,000 if they win Tuesday so there’s not a big financial gain from it. It’s likely more about prestige and I’m not sure there’s really anything comparable in American sports to point to as an equal.
it's something akin to your local pro making it through the various stages of qualifying and playing in the US Open. Even though they have no shot of actually winning it the notoriety and attention they receive by beating better opponents, advancing much further expected and playing a significantly bigger stage far outweighs what little prize money they may win.
