One time when I was in middle school we had a family reunion in a gigantic cabin near Pigeon Forge. It was on an awesome lake and it was beautiful. we did not go into Pigeon Forge or partake in any of the local attractions.I remember driving by and thinking it looked like a traveling carnival set up shop permanently.
I believe the IP address was validated based on reading the intro thread. Also, she has a co conspirator who has vouched with some detail. If it is one of those two is some higher level psycho shit so I would lean on this not being them.
So my SiL has decided to go get here degree. She has been teaching Spanish but doesn't have a degree so doesn't get a teachers full salary and benefits. I wish her luck but she changes her mind all the time and I don't see her sticking the course for a 5 year degree. So she completed her first semester and did great. Don't believe she took 12+ hours though. Well she just up and decided to change her degree from Education to Accounting . She is awful at math and still needs to take her remedial math course for college.
Blows my mind. Advanced Accounting destroyed me in college. Hated it. My mother was telling me about all the opportunities that come with an accounting degree. I had to stop her and say yeah I know accounting is a great degree but it's not easy. "she's good a math just not when it gets to algebra and higher" - my mother
I knew a handful of kids who did UF’s 5-year masters accounting program. Most dropped before finishing and those that did finish and went on to become accountants got burnt out and left the profession a few years in.
I somehow started getting TikToks from this husband and wife that are both drivers and share duties. Their content is super interesting. I’m sure the job gets monotonous, like all do, but they get to see some really cool shit while on the road.
I had a job in college driving one of those "Wide Load" trucks in front of semis. You get to get outside and looking at shit driving down the road is infinitely more interesting than staring at the wall of my office.
That’s a hard no from me, dawg. Driving on the highway and staring at the wall of an office are essentially the same thing…except dozing off in your office isn’t going to kill you. Highway driving is one of my least favorite things to do and is the opposite of fun/relaxing to me.
Anyone want an update on jovie? I don’t know the full story because when I get info it’s about 3rd hand. Jovie was taken to the vet to get spaded. Turns out Jovie has a penis just no testicles formed. I call him Bon Jovi now, because he is living on a prayer.
I didn't have to take many accounting classes in college. But the ones I did we so fucking boring. The math was elementary as hell, just put this number into this box, manual spreadsheet on paper shit. I can imagine doing that in any capacity on a daily all day basis
My vertebrae start weeping when I think of all the sitting truck drivers do. Would be cool to see the country like that, but I’d need approximately 700 surgeries. Getting old sucks ass.
the accounting class i needed in college was all self paced so i of course fucked around and got a 24 on the first test because i am a moron. withdrew and told myself i would take it seriously the next year and then did the same and got a 36. i coulda kept doing that, slowly improving my score by 12 points at a time but decided to just take the equivalent at a community college instead
Unless you’re doing periodic calisthenics during the day like Cornelius Suttree between innings, you’re eventually going to break down no matter what.
Office work blows ass too, but at least I can usually get up and stretch/pee/get water every 20-30 minutes if I want.
This is why I really like wfh. I put on workout clothes and pretty regularly hit up the treadmill at a fast walking pace in downtime. Get an email or call? Jump off and answer. Get back on after it’s handled.
One of my college roommates was an accountant and then one day decided to quit and sell everything he owned and hike the PCT. He met some older lady on the trail and now they’re married and live in a nudist colony
I think wfh has made me worse. In an in-office setting, my habit was to get up and interact with staff face-to-face instead of calling. Now I just Teams call. I'm trying to discipline myself to get up and move at least every hour before I disintegrate into a goo pile.
Practical education in college is almost nonexistent. That’s why it really shouldn’t be for job training. It should be about Education more than anything. You can learn the skills on the job.
I feel like I should get paid $1000 per math formula I learned in college and then never used in the real world
I get up and stretch constantly at work. when I don’t waste too much time dicking around on the-mainboard I’ll go for a walk around the block once ever 2 hours or so. shits nice
I still laugh thinking about getting a giant envelope filled with receipts, invoices, purchase orders, etc and then being told to write out a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow by hand.
