I think it's very tough for the police to make definitive calls on who played what role in the first 48 hours.
Yes. I think that's what most non-Alabama fans have said as well. You and other Bama fans refuse to hear that though. It looks reckless af when he plays like 48 hours after he's at the scene of a murder. If he'd sat for a week to ten days while Bama did their due diligence, this would look completely different. But jesus they didn't even know about the text until it came out in court. It just looks like they couldn't care less and that's really gross to me.
I agree, I also think it’s tough for the university to make some sort of call like that, based on what they’re being told from the police.
And the point that a vast majority of people are trying to make, is that he shouldn't have played UNTIL they got all the facts. Like the text message stuff that didn't come out until the court hearing.
It’s legitimately mind blowing how obtuse one can be when their favorite team does something shitty but they’re on a national championship run.
It appears the police and prosecution have hinged nearly their entire case on Johnson’s testimony. So they have a vested interest in not impeaching him. I know it’s legally possible to charge him as well, but I think it hurts the credibility of their charges against Miller and Davis.
The mind numbing part is one could just say "it was questionable the judgement they used to clear him, this kind of looks bad if nothing else but I'm going to keep cheering on the team and hope no one did anything bad." Would have been completely understandable.
Right, and I’m not saying they were right or wrong, I’m saying he was described as being a witness, and cooperating.
what we’ve said is he was asked to and eventually delivered a gun that was used to murder someone. That at the very least warranted a suspension. RJF-GUMP your argument is so ridiculous it’s not worth replying to. I just wanted to make sure you didn’t think I was ignoring you or ducking the question.
I think the university handled it poorly and think what you’re suggesting definitely seems like a better alternative. I dont think it’s fair to shit all over Miller. He just did what was asked at every stop. The school decided to completely back their player and I’m ok with it given the current circumstances. Don’t know why people like you have such a hard time moving on at this point. Justice for Jamea will be served
Next time Greg Byrne and Dr. Bell should just call dblplay1212. He knows exactly how handle everything
"Our program doesn't give a flying fuck about a player being at the scene of a murder bc he's really good at basketball. Idk why y'all can't just move on."
They made their decision. If you don’t trust the people involved that’s fine. But why can’t you wait for all the indisputable clear facts before going in on them?
Miles shouldn’t have spoken to the cops without a lawyer. He was found to have played a part in the murder now he is being charged and I hope he gets a fair trial. If innocent I hope he get set free. Maybe the boy friend should continue to cooperate with law enforcement but I understand why he doesn’t want to. Miller delivered a gun that was used to kill someone and while that might not be criminal it at least warrants a suspension from playing a game. I think I covered it all.
I'm wondering how you can simultaneously say that Miller did everything he was asked, and we have no idea what Miller was asked
from cooperating with law enforcement. He has been fully cooperative. We don’t know what was allowed to be disclosed outside of the police.
Fair enough. We have no idea if Miller did everything the coach and AD asked of him. Basically, either Oats/Bryne completely shit the bed on the "investigation" or Miller deliberately kept important information from them.
or they sought to understand as much as allowed from the local police and made the decision that was in Miller’s best interests
If they were kept from conducting a thorough investigation, they should not have allowed the student athlete to continue competing for the University.
Auburn fans seeking the moral high ground while continuing to support their athletic program is hilarious
Nods. I don’t believe anyone has said that any facts were incorrectly reported in the article. Just that it is written with clear bias. You don’t need to consider anything else that was discussed about the author or his publication in this thread to come to that conclusion though. Just need to read the article itself. If he’s done good work before, irrelevant but good for him. He should have kept that up on this one and not recapped basketball games from months ago and caught us all up on how the rest of the season went after the fact. I’m not sure how that’s an even remotely controversial take.
Isn’t the shooting on video and Miles and Davis gave an account of events that they were able to refute via camera footage? I don’t know how you keep saying that the entire case hinges on a single person’s testimony when we know that there’s more evidence. I was also under the impression that Miller was a witness, so isn’t his testimony also being used to make the case? By your logic the only reason Miller was not charged is because he was cooperating and not because of his innocence.
I’m not going back to read all this thread, but am I understanding correctly that we have a 50+ page thread full of Bama fans white knighting for this guy? You guys are fucking gross
