The country westerns album has some great song titles. “Cussin christians”, “speaking ill of the blues” Also sounds great
Country Westerns album is way up there for me of 2023 releases so far. Currently no tour dates west of Texas.
This song melted me. The National - Once Upon A Poolside (feat. Sufjan Stevens) (Official Audio) - YouTube
been listening to Country Westerns a whole lot the past few weeks with the new album on the horizon/now released that self-titled debut LP from 2020 has truly cemented itself as a staple in my rotation starts off with a couple ridiculously good guitar songs in Anytime and It's Not Easy
I’ll give it all another go on my morning workouts. Got a nice 5-6 mile loop, just need good weather.
Best Coast is going on "indefinite hiatus" which sucks because Always Tomorrow was one of my favorite records of 2020, but Bethany Cosentino is putting out a solo record in July. Here's "It's Fine."
No I don't really listen to any of them. I recognize they're talented but their music doesn't really resonate with me
They veer just a little too country sounding sometimes. Overall enjoy them but more skips than I typically like.
Totally get it. This thread covers a really wide spectrum of sounds, so there's quite a bit posted in here that doesn't do it for me, and that's ok.
I don't think they're bad by any means, I just find them incredibly generic, which is why Phoebe's Clapton comment was pretty funny to me even if I somewhat agreed yes I realize my tastes are weird
I am kind of eh on their solo content, but the new one is a solid saturday/sunday morning listen to me
They're extremely digestable "indie" music for people who listen to pop music but want to seem hip. I absolutely love them, but I can see why they're a little too generic for some in here. I think they'd have been all over mainstream radio in the 90s.
Perfect description. They seem to be popular with people who want to pretend their musical tastes didn't stop evolving in their 20's.
Julien Baker's "Sprained Ankle" is the best thing any of the members have done solo or together; other than that its pretty bland and repetitive but I can see why people like it Steven Hyden hit the nail on the head on his review of the new album
What a record. My favorite Deerhunter Maybe I was just more into music in the late 2000s / early 2010s or you just like what you grew up with in your early 20s more, but I would lose it if something like this came out today
You guys gonna voice your after the fact displeasure with Better Oblivion Community Center too? Cause I love that album
Captured Tracks Twitter account is retweeting every single mention of The Lemon Twigs and it's made my timeline unreadable
