RE: Crying babies if you don't have noise cancelling headphones in this day and age then skip your next trip, buy some, then resume flying.
were they going to make the person that spilled the rice get on their hands and knees and pick it up one grain at a time?
Not gonna lie, I’d punch old boy in the throat if this was me. Ms. Wilson, a Rapid Rewards A-List (elite frequent flyer) member, boarded early enough that she was in her aisle seat. A man walked up to her row and asked if he could take the open seat in her row. She got up to let him in. And he.. plopped himself down in her aisle seat, refusing to move. The man “moved [her] bag” and told her that “the middle seat was free” if she wanted to take that. Another passenger points out that she’d moved from her seat to let him in. The man said “tough luck.” The good samaritan called over a flight attendant. The seat thief stood his ground, briefly, saying that he took the seat because she’d moved. However the crewmember told him “that he needed to move before she called the pilot” and he did finally move. https://viewfromthewing.com/southwe...-womans-seat-during-boarding-finders-keepers/
I don’t complain about crying babies because babies cry and that’s life, but not everyone wants to wear headphones for the duration of the flight, especially long ones. I say let the babies cry and let the people bitch about it (within reason).
I also wonder how long that flight was that the guy was on. I can see people really getting pushed to their breaking point on a 5+ hour flight, so you better prepare and assume you may hear babies cry for long stretches. If this wasn't anything about 3 hours then man-the-fuck-up.
I wouldn't really blame him if all he did was snap for 5 seconds and then shut up. But going on for 5 minutes while people film you is an absurd thing to do.
Oh yeah he was having a full-on melty. I mean some shitty parents exist, but 99% of parents are probably hyper concerned about their kid being disruptive on a flight.
If anyone thinks they are annoyed/agitated by a crying baby on a flight the parents are feeling it 10x worse.
no shot there'd be mask wearing at that level on some fly by night airline where that'd happen in the year of our lord 2023
I don’t think that counts as a sucker punch. Unless they are referring to one of the punches at the end.
Agreed - the one where the friends are holding the other guy’s arms back and then the punches to the back of the head
Sitting in my seat on my still boarding flight and so far I’ve seen: a guy kick the suitcase of the guy behind him because he was pushing it in front of him and clipped the guy’s heels a guy treat with absolute contempt the woman who was sitting in his seat (aisle) instead of her own (window) because she was confused as to which was F Two flight attendants yell at a lady who opened a closed bin to tell her if it’s closed it’s full, then one yells “just turn around there’s room on the other side” and then an eye roll Flight is on time, security and boarding lines were normal, and no reason why everyone is acting like garbage but we are doing of bang up job of having a society today. oh and a baby in the back just started making noises can’t wait to see what happens next
I’m sure this is very common, but somehow I’d never been on a plane with the screen in the seat with Bluetooth capabilities.
Never seen that and I fly quite a bit. In fact I bought my wife a dongle that plugs into the mic Jack and connects to her AirPods via Bluetooth bc she would forget the wired headphones every trip. Worked great for one trip until we had kids and didn’t get on a plane together for almost 2 years.
There was a huge push to get away from seat back screens but now it's going right back. I'm indifferent. Sometimes I watch on my phone but on some planes there's no comfortable way to hold your phone.
Lowest price someone has seen the upgrade price from premium plus to Polaris drop to? It’s at $1,200 on the flight to Europe and wondering if I pull the trigger or wait.
I couldn’t get my AirPods to connect to the Bluetooth. Not sure if it was user error or that AirPods don’t work with the screen Team screens. I’d rather use my phone to browse TMB
I don't have an answer for you but I'm curious what the actual flight is (to get a sense of duration) and how much you've already spent. Those would be the factors I would base the decision on most likely.
You can always buy plus points on eBay and take your shot at getting the upgrade that way. It was like $150 a couple years ago when I was going SFO to Hong Kong and I bought mine on eBay and they applied for the upgrade under my reservation number.
This article explains how pluspoints work and how to determine if your flight is eligible. https://thepointsguy.com/guide/how-to-use-united-pluspoints/amp/ If you determine it is, figure out how many you’ll need to go from premium plus to business and just go on eBay and search for United plus points and there will be hundreds of people selling theirs because they expire eventually. They’ll typically be marketed as “advice” on how to upgrade, since technically it’s against United’s terms of service to sell them, and then once you buy them you send them your last name and reservation number and they’ll go and request the upgrade with their plus points. I did this for San Francisco to Hong Kong and had no status and got upgraded to Polaris from Premium Plus for a little over $100.
I’m flying IAH to LHR in a couple weeks and it’s around $900, and last year got MEL to SFO for around $1,200 I believe
As someone who has successfully been to 47 states and never had to travel dogshit airlines like United or American what are the tiers on the flights y’all keep posting about? Alaska keeps it simple, there’s coach, premium, and first class.
Premium Plus is United's premium product for (premium) transcon routes (think SFO/LAX to EWR) and international longhaul. (It's essentially the domestic first class seat experience.) There's a slew of carriers now offering this sort of product as a middle ground between economy and business and/or first class. It usually means that if you aren't seated on the aisle you're only one seat removed (because of 2-3-2) and in theory your food is more akin to the business class experience than that offered to the economy cabin. Polaris is United's premium transcon and international business class.
