All valid points and no one is wrong. So we can all move on. The right way to play is offline dynasty in freshman with offsides turned off.
I don't expect to be able to control your behavior in any way. I'm just trying to explain the basic principle of cause and effect to you.
Submit your position and some loose description of your attributes and I'll make you part of my TMB Ball State squad and do a 4 year run through next week First come, first served E.g. Dbl Play #12, FB, great run blocker
The child gambling aspects of gaming is something we are going to regret as a society 15-20 years from now.
It's a fair question. I'm the problem for spending money on the game but you can buy it and thats ok? If you offline guys wants change, don't buy the game and force them to pay attention to your modes. Don't ask me to have less fun on the game so they'll address your issues.
I’m surprised there hasn’t been more legislation on all the gambling/gambling adjacent content out there for kids. Kick and similar sites are running purely off of the run off of shady gambling advertisements and promos since Twitch banned them from the platform. The horse is out of the barn on the subject and I don't think EA or other gaming corporations really care about the potential damage they are doing.
that's really not how it works though. i'd wager 70% of ea sports revenue is from ultimate team. if a reasonably possible percentage of those who are aware of the ut situation but don't participate in it stop buying the game it really wouldn't impact much in the grand scheme of things. ea would likely just lean harder into ut at that point to make up the lost revenue. we've seen it play out in that exact way across gaming for the last decade.
look I've had enough of this so this is the last thing I'll say. this is a dumb as shit comparison. I'm paying $70, you're paying $1,570. not comparable. and it's disingenuous to make in an online/offline thing. be honest, you just want to be able to play with every built in advantage you can afford. I play FIFA online all the time, but I play Seasons mode which is just one on one against people using actual teams with no suped up players. you're not paying for any specific mode really, you're just paying for an advantage. and that's fine if that's how you want to spend your money, but just come to grips with the fact that the game manufacturers are going to cater to the people that are willing to spend 20+ times the cost of the game just because they have a chance to use a legend or a suped up player that costs them next to nothing to add instead of overhauling an entire mode for people only paying the $70 it costs to buy the game.
You won't know until you try. Let me know how it works out. I'll say it again, asking people to enjoy a game less to get the game maker to cater more to what you want is really really lame. Like I'd love for Nike to focus more on some old og Prestos and Huaraches. Unfortunately they aren't super popular. I'm not going to whine to people spending thousands on Jordan 1 and Dunks to stop buying those so Nike will cater to me.
You're just making stuff up. I can't speak for other games, but on The Show I don't have an advantage. Same with 2k. It's really paying to not be at a disadvantage. Almost every player I have is a player you can get if you play the game a ton. I just don't want to play it a ton offline. You want Chipper? Cool, go spend 50 hours grinding for the cards that unlock him. I'll buy the cards needed to unlock him. We both end up with Chipper. You're just mad that I don't want to spend the time I have to play the game playing the cpu offline.
see the problem lies in the system that's designed to make you either 1. grind for an unreasonable amount of money or 2. spend. people wouldn't hate on ut if the system were changed to one in which everyone just gets chipper when he's added if you go play a special chipper themed mission or some shit. it's not the game mode itself that people hate, it's the underlying system of requiring 50 hours of grind or insert price of the new hotness card here. speaking of which, i'm genuinely curious the cost of getting a new release player. top tier player, will be one of the best until the next iteration of the game.
Ok...so I am allowed to argue this with you. Haven't bought a Madden since when Fitzgerald and Favre were on the cover because it's been terrible since before then. Another thing I dont do...but tickets to see sporting events because I can stick toy guns. The prices are ridiculous, and just because I can afford it doesn't mean I should go. I hate people thapy bitch about salaries or ticket prices but keep going to the games.
Oh it's absolutely the game mode that I hate. I don't see any appeal to playing with a virtual Mickey Mantle.
On The Show? This year they changed it and there's probably a hundred 99 overall cards so there's not really any card that's light years better than the others. Sure Mickey Mantle is fun to have bc he's Mickey Mantle and very hard to get so you don't see a ton of him but he's not on a different tier of cards than several other OF's. And most of the top tier cards are part of collections, so you have to collect a ton of other cards to unlock the top card. You get a lot of really good players along the way. So we'll use Chipper, Pedro, and Babe Ruth. They were the "set 1" collection rewards. You unlocked set 1 cards in tons of ways. Ranked, battle royal, events, etc. You got guys like Jazz and Tre Turner for 100 or 120 cards or something like that. At 160, you get to choose one of Chipper/Pedro/Babe. At 210, you get another. At 260, you get the last one. Collecting 160 was pretty easy. 210 was a little harder, took a few weeks to do it. Getting to 260 was close to impossible if you didn't spend some money. None of those 3 are must haves in your lineup. There's really no must haves, honestly. If you watch guys on YT, you'll see lots of different lineups. Like I have Sammy Sosa, part of another collection, and I'm fucking awful with him. But Ketel Marte? I'm great with him. Set 2 just started. The rewards for this set are Randy Johnson, Hank Arron, and David Wright. Each set runs 6 weeks iirc and you can only use the current set and the set prior. So when set 3 starts, set 1 cards won't be usable online. I assume Chipper/Babe/Pedro will be part of future collections to unlock more guys though.
Current players...playing in a season, that's followed by more seasons. I'm a huge Sosa fan, but I'm not going to play any mode in which I'd ever use him, so it's cool to see him finally included in the game, but I have zero interest in using "legends".
That's cool. I hope they make that mode great for you. I really enjoy the new legends. Having Jeter has been great.
Fully agree. It's not even the $100, it's the starting everything over that sucks for me. Like damn I spent all that time and money and now it's just gone and we start over. Would be nice if I got credit in the next game for all of that somehow.
Agreed. The Show used to have year to year saves with Franchise, but I'm guessing that didn't happen for DD teams?
Nope, not since I've been playing in 20. I don't expect to have Mantle forever bc I had him this year bc every year he's different in the game but I think something should carry over to give you a head start or something.
Essentially a reward for dropping so much coin, is you get to carry over shit you've either bought or earned.
I get why the cards don’t carry over, since like you said the cards change year to year or some guys get removed etc. Always thought it would be nice if some stubs carried over. Even if it’s like 25% of what you had the year before. SOMETHING would be nice for playing the game every year.
yea I don't even know how I'd suggest to do it. Maybe if you collected 10 of these 15 cards or whatever, basically the top tier collection cards, you get a 100k XP head start on every season program for the next year or something like that. It just makes the next season grind a little easier.
There’s a local game store here that claims to have NCAA13 for like $20 and then a PS3 for $85. I’m HIGHLY tempted to go light some money on fire and pick that up this weekend so I can play a fairly new version of the game, compared to my NCAA10 PS2. NCAA14 is still like $150+ it looks like.
towards the end of the year when I'm about to switch to the next version, I like to send the majority of my cards to auction w. no buy it now price because I'm a man of the people who likes to pay it forward to those still playing the older version
These micro transactions are ruining work ethic in the world today. Why grind on Tiger Woods 2006 to get your dude to 110% in every category when you can just throw money at it? This madness is tearing at the fabric of our society. Sad!
How does one acquire players on MUT? I think we may have discussed it before but is it strictly opening packs? If so, that's so damn lane. At least on The Show I can buy who the fuck I want, for the most part. There's some cards that are 100% locked behind you having to grind for them but the vast majority can be bought/sold on the open market. I'll be livid if NCAA doesn't have something similar.
I grew up playing shit like NHL '94, NBA Live '95, Madden before it was all on-line so that's what I know and am used to. I play these games because I prefer a realistic simulation when i play sports games. I mean sure NBA Jam or NFL Blitz aside... I get why people like Park/Rec especially if you're squaded up. I struggle with the sever lags when shooting on-line because 90% of the time I'm playing MyCareer against the computer off-line.
Yea zero chance I'd play park if I wasn't squaded. Just a miserable existence. Luckily I have a good list of people to play with some there's always someone online.
after boosting all of your players to 99 everywhere also making that de 6’5 275 instead of the bullshit 6’3 243 that they say he is Jimmy clausen was a 99 speed, he was just deceptively fast when you watched him on tv
