Maybe. I interact with people who I thought were on the "closer to reasonable" end of the modern republican spectrum, and I see a trend of closing ranks. And even if somehow one candidate could peel off enough support to really give Trump a run for his money in the primary, I think all those people come crawling back to him in a general election. I think this election cycle is going to be an enormous disaster and I honestly wonder if the die is not already cast on the doom of our government and society.
Pre-planning my response to the office discussion today and I think I'll just go with "Law and order, law and order. Can't have the deep state being above the law." I know there will be a "But Hunter!" in there and I'll just shrug and say to arrest him too if he broke the law. They always get confused when I won't go to bat for Dems if they break the law.

I dont think it's as dire as it seems. From what little Ive read on it - the reason they're filing charges in Florida instead of DC is because Trump lawyers would have been able to get it moved anyway and it would have just delayed. They had to have factored this judge as a possibility into that

The entire thing is gross from that specific video but the 5 part series is horrifying. Lays out the media war playbook, dogwhistles galore, and I'm pretty sure some of the coded language in there is about scratching your "human itch to see people who are less than suffer." The Nazis all know what Andrew is saying and are on board with pushing this shit to war. Everyone else is getting manipulated. Fuck their framing, because every small reasonable sounding point they make is just a foot in the door technique for deeper recruitment on a path to white supremacy and eager oppression of the lower class. And it absolutely sucks, because our friends and family who fall prey to this are clueless for the most part. It's hilarious that Trump's ego is going to land him in jail. He could have sat back and played golf every day while doing anything he wanted as a rich guy but instead he got his feelings hurt by Obama so he ran for Potus.
