I say this with and absolute void of jealousy: that is pathetic. Go to work. Be with your family. Do anything other than standing in a cold parking lot waiting on limited edition booze, fuckin losers.
To me I would rather pay secondary. You have to think about how much your time is worth. That said, back in the day I actually had quite a bit of fun standing in some beer lines. People were usually opening good stuff while waiting in line.
Agreed on your first point. To your second point, it’s the definition of being a child, or at least acting as one. Or, perhaps here, a man that lacks industriousness and purpose. I cannot fathom spending hours away from my wife, home, and dogs to get a bottle of booze. And again, to your first point, if I spent those hours working, the gain outweighs the secondary markup.
Just depends. Maybe these people are young and don't have a wife or children. I'm not really going to judge people on how they spend their time. Just know it's not worth it for me at this point.
Right after I turned 21 Founders did a Canadian Breakfast Stout release. I stood in line for probably an hour or so after class at the bottle shop and they ran out with 2 people ahead of me. I felt like it was a tremendous waste of time, at a time when I had tons of free time, and never did it again. Too much good booze out there that doesn't require that kind of effort. I could see it being fun with a group and sharing some bottles but generally speaking just seems wasteful.
Still haven't seen the rye here and it's pissing me off. I was really excited about that one. See the JDSBP here all the time so figured this one wouldn't be too bad. But I'm not sure it's even made it here yet.
https://www.whiskiesoftheworld.com/tour/atlanta coworker just told me about this, thinking it's worth $125 for a last-second ticket
I sell a lot of good shit. Sazerac and their legion of fans is the worst thing in my professional work life. The company pays shit for commission. They know people want it, and as a result I spend countless hours fielding phone-calls about its availability and countless hours asking people if they want their allocation. Over $25 fucking bourbon. You are a smart person. None of it is worth it. It’s fucking booze. I say this as somebody who helped my fil pick his grapes and has homemade wine in his basement. No company has made me more jaded about shit.
Good news is I think a lot of newer companies are starting to put out good stuff. The Austin Still High Rye Bourbon is phenomenal for price and availability
My store somehow got screwed on getting C923. I've never seen them not get a batch but asked them about this one and they said they didn't get it for some reason. I was pretty bummed since I was really looking forward to trying it.
If you do let me know. They usually sit around here and are easy to snag. Seems like the state got way less of this one.
Maybe I'm not that fancy but really like Jack Daniels select barrel JD is shit, Gentleman Jack is decent, really like select barrel I'm typically a bulleit or Makers man but been buying a few $50-$80 fifths a week recently. Really like Old Forrester and Horse Soldier. Have had a few bad ones, mostly buying Virginia bourbon brands. Bless up

Tried their barrel strength and was impressed. Will definitely pick up a bottle of the high rye based on your suggestion: I need more non-barrel proof stuff.
Keef I’m finally getting around to this bottle, it’s different. There’s a note that I like that I can’t quite describe, almost like an artificial cherry flavor.
If anyone has a lead on a MWND let me know no I have nothing to trade yea I’ll pay way over msrp plus tag my father in law drank my whole bottle and I want to get him one for Christmas thanks!
