such a doofus. all the proof I ever needed of how bullshit the rankings are happened when VT's 247 site kicked off. back then I was actually on Rivals and flipped to 247 when the site opened (VT was good at this time and recruiting not too painful to follow). Shurbutt helped the VT guy get the site off the ground, handle traffic, and so on for a year or two. VT mysteriously got bumps on all their borderline guys and man, VT never got the benefit of a doubt at Rivals so everyone was loving 247. time passes, JC goes back to just the South Carolina site and VT's borderline guys stayed 3* and it was probably a coinflip if any 4* kids would stay that way after committing. once they suckered enough VT fans in the flipped the switch right back to the bullshit of Rivals and it's been that way for a decade or more at this point. although it was fun this year getting a top WR that JC insisted was coming to South Carolina despite everyone else knowing he was in the (NIL) bag for VT. Gamecock posters roasted him over that one.
Ken Stickney aka Nevadabuck tried to change his customers billing cycle from every month to every four weeks in order to get more money out of them every year, which is whatever, but the kicker is he wasn't going to tell them and just do it. He also paid a walk-on long snapper to give him practice footage and the kid got caught and immediately kicked off the team and their site lost their credentials immediately. They had a few "reputable" beat guys at his site and they had no idea about this and left immediately. Not to mention, he's been making up shit and selling it to his customers for the better part of the last 20 years.

I mentioned it in another thread the other day, but this is the guy who put out a huge morning practice report for one of the early practices last season complete with what they worked on, who stood out, etc. Around lunch the team put out a release that they had moved that day’s practice to the afternoon. He and/or Barton deleted the story, along with any posts referencing it, and never talked about it again. How brainwashed do you have to be to keep believing -and paying for- their information after something like that?
