Central America is amazing too. I fly to Costa Rica 3x a year. most recently it was $650, but it's been near a $1000 during post peak covid. That's a pretty massive game changer as long as they don't fuck with fare rules and make it absurdly limited
Those sweet sweet diamond choice benefits hit yesterday. I also hadn’t selected my platinum benefits for last 2 years so had a nice little 65k point drop into Skymiles last night. Also already hit Silver for 2025 lol. Will have gold by mid March easy.
LA to NYC in Delta One is pretty nice. Not enough Delta one available though for domestic. I fly to Seattle from ATL 4-5 times a year and it’s just the regular first class seats which is lame AF. I will never leave the Delta ecosystem as long as I live in hub city. Service + reliability is unmatched.
This was my mistake. Used the wrong word. I meant flying in/out of the US. No issues with it transcon tbh.
The Delta companion passes suck for me because I don't fly very much domestically. Wife and I always do a 2 international trips each year so they can't be used there. The few times we fly domestically each year there never seem to be any companion pass seats available. I might drop the card with this price increase since I never get to take advantage of it. I still prefer to fly Delta because they are way better then American and United but they devalued points so much I'll just pick the best prices for international now. No point sticking with only Delta when platinum travel two years ago is now only worth gold.
Did you miss that it can now be used internationally? Maybe non-hubs are different, but I've never had an issue using a campion pass. Key West, Montana, Norfolk Virginia, San Fran, etc
Need some recs. I travel for work and stay in Marriotts I only fly 4-5 times a year. Most of my travel I driving so I spend a good bit on gas but my biggest expenditure is taking folks to eat with most dinners being $1k+. I currently have an Amex Marriott card.
I have now received the Amex plat Uber benefit for 18 straight months since canceling the card. I’m gonna start including it as a source of income when projecting my retirement budget.
My buddy said something that kinda makes sense now- the credits will continue until the card on file in the Uber app expires. Which is 2026 for me.
Work is going to let me order some hardware stuff straight from Apple, is there any specific CC or portal I should be using for that? I have them all but can't keep track of where to use some of these benefits
I cancelled my Marriott card in October. I still received a free night award and silver status. The spend sign up bonus also posted twice.
The new additions do make it better but our international trips have always been to Europe, Asia, or SA and they're still not included. I definitely think being at a non hub in Cincy hurts because we have less direct flights then somewhere like Atlanta or Detroit.
Can I get any of the venturex folks to chime in on their experience with the $300 portal credit? Easy score? Missing elite benefits? etc Tia
O I don't expect them to ever go to other continents with companion pass. The new changes are nice but they just don't do much for my personal travel. It's really the status devaluation that has put me off Delta. I used to only fly them for personal and work to try to get as much status as possible. But since I have zero chance to ever get platinum status again I'll just pick whichever airline is best for my trips. Thus this price increase on my delta amex is making me question if I should keep it.
Simple. You buy a flight using their portal, which is powered by hopper, and it immediately takes the $300 off of the purchase price at checkout. Portal is similar to chase’s but maybe a little better. I like their predictor tool.
They changed it this year. It used to be a statement credit now it shows up at checkout. Not a huge deal but you don't get the points on the $300. But yes, easy to use. Used it the last couple of years on Airline tickets and the price predictor/watch tool worked like a champ. Just used it for some hotel rooms and it was actually cheaper on the site than it was through the hotel. Referral link below. https://capital.one/3LZmSyl
I already have all the big travel/rewards cards, but no access to Cap One. Thinking I'll go Venture instead of Venture X as my airport doesn't have a Cap One lounge and I have to book work travel through another system, not Cap One travel. any regular contributors have a referral? Or anybody want to talk me out of a strategic error if my logic is flawed?
Just got a Venture card over X. Not traveling a lot right now after having kid #2 so just banking points so all of the extras weren't worth it to me. https://i.capitalone.com/J9CSNxyjp
Should have a referral coming your way now. also, signed up a CIP a week or two ago and got no decision, so I assumed it was a rejection. Got the Venture yesterday and then just got the CIP in the mail today. Whoops
Southwest card offering companion pass + 30k points through 2/28/25 for new sign ups after spending $4k. Not as good as the one they did last year, but solid if you have trips coming up between now and then. Just got my fiance sign up. Shameless referral link below if you do sign up. https://www.referyourchasecard.com/226f/5KKRR4MOTT
I have the chase aouthwest and Hilton cards but I feel like is get more use switching over to the big 3 from chase and being able to pool points and use the bonuses. Finding more and more southwest is kinda incomvuent dor most trips and I have have a ton of points for Hilton. But that would make em having 7 credit cards total. Two could be easily done away with Wells Fargo and discover IT
I think this is my last year with the Amex platinum. Fee vs benefits is just too out of balance for me, especially with the cap on lounge visits. I reached out to cancel this year but they gave me a (very average) retention offer and I have to buy some expensive delta tickets shortly anyways, so that'll mostly cover the fee. But damn, $695 is hard to swallow. Going to make it my mission to squeeze every free dollar out of this thing possible
My wife is going to Scotland this fall and trying to go premium cabin, needs some delta sky-pesos. Bonus is currently 70,000 for a Delta Gold Amex Is there any reason for us to not get a Delta Gold Amex? No AF for the 1st year. $150 at anniversary and I can just cancel once that hits. We both have Delta Platinums. I'm a little worried I'll get a pop-up, have opened two cards with them in the last year (Plat Amex & Gold Amex, non-Delta). Platinum Amex is 100k, but not sure it's worth the $650 right out the gate. We'd both hit Auto Silver (but would reup on silver this year w/out the 2nd 2500 boost) I'm not sure we can hit 5k in spend to get to Gold. Maybe? Wife will go to China so it's possible she'll hit it. That would be 4 companion passes. Expansion to Latin America is helpful, It's possible we'd use 3 per year, but not sure about 4 companion passes. Nearly all will be child/wife and myself. Maybe I could roll off Amex Plat for Delta Reserve and swap AFs?
If you think you can hit the $5k, then I think it makes sense given your situation. Below referral link if you do go that route. Apply for an American Express Card with this link. With your new Card, you could earn a welcome bonus and your friend could earn a referral bonus. Terms Apply. https://americanexpress.com/en-us/referral/CLIFTFDK70?XLINK=MYCP
we carry two as a household think we're dropping one if not both, makes more sense as delta loyalists to focus on delta branded amexes with all the changes
Dropping mine as well....have the business version and my wife has the personal delta reserve. Just excessive for duplicative benefits. Dropped my gold personal amex as well, saving $1k in renewal fees this year Would spring for it again if they do the 150k point offer
I was so excited to drop mine last year. A month before I was going to cancel it I cracked a windshield in a rental car on the way to Banff. Now I'm so excited to drop it this year.
Sounds similar to us. We have around $2K in total annual fees across all cards, so dropping this one definitely makes a difference
