I spent 6+ weeks in Los Angeles recently for work. The TikTok above reminded me - I can confidently say our (Houston) food absolutely demolishes theirs. The only objective plus I can give them over us is their produce + fruit beat us by a fair margin. It's so fresh and has way more flavor on average. A standard set of guacamole at a restaurant their is B+ guacamole here. Other than that we shit all over them. Our fusions, flavors, and creativity of food is leagues beyond what they're offering. *I ate everything from breakfast burritos downtown to the Polo Lounge in BH. I think I had a sufficient representative sample of their food culture.
My thoughts as well. Started it, watched about 30 seconds, realized we had barely started the video, immediately clicked off. Good on those of you who have the patience to make it through the entire video, I'm just not one of those people.
I feel like San Antonio is the far superior central valley Texas city than Austin Austin is just a bland capitalistic hellhole
Don't disagree, but that change was already well underway by the time I moved there in the summer of 2009. I also would rather be back with the crusty single fixed gear bike hipsters than the annoying dipshits making TikToks about "Oh my gawd Y'ALL (I can say y'all now heehee) I eat BBQ like once a week!" Just fucking go have fun, no one else really cares.
Austin was never weird there was just a time when Willie Nelson played with Doug Sahm the it was all advertising after that.
I never thought Austin was weird, but I only had 3 friends when I lived there and they were all bartender/coke dealer/musician.

TIFWIW but back in 2003 one of my first interactions outside the hotel we were staying at right when we got into town was with some transients and they asked my mom, my brother and I if we had $5 and wanted to watch him eat dog food. Not sure if it was the dry or wet kind.
Not that it will matter in the end, but a few more months of TX GOP firing upon each other doesn't hurt I suppose
