I tried it years ago and really liked it but probably didn't really appreciate it like I would now. Wish I could try it again but it's a unicorn now.
Best 2 distilleries in Bardstown ? Some fam is visiting there tomorrow and offered to get the wife and I some nice bottles from 2 of our choice. Any recs ? Looking to procure some stuff I can’t get up north readily.
Willet rarely has anything good for takeaway though right? If they do a tour at HH someone said you get the Old Fitz 13 but that's probably all booked up anyway.
Didn't know if that's where you were hearing about this stuff. I'm in there but there's so many channels it's tough to keep track of everything.
He and I have a few avenues that monitor things, honestly twitter and instagram have some great accounts to follow that will keep up with upcoming releases.
Yeah, early on I just muted damn near everything because my phone was going off constantly. So any channels I should really follow would be nice to know.
@BourbEnthusiasm @d_tao @TheBourbonNews All good follows, the first two will do reviews of some off the beaten path things worth grabbing. Make sure you are on the text or email lists for Seelbachs and Bourbon Outfitter.
So I turn off all Discord notifications except for tags just as a general standard. I'd say the most important channels there are General, FS/FT, Barrel Pick Announcements, Hated's Whiskey Runners, and then the region that you're in. If you are into the razz world, those are separated by secondary value so turn on whichever you feel comfortable spending. I typically stay out of those.
Start off with just the barrel picks group and try to keep up with those. What are you looking for particularly?
That's why I keep all notifications off unless I get tagged. I don't mute them because then when I open it up, it's easier to see what is new.
Would anyone mind to DM me some of the groups on IG, Twitter, or Facebook? I've never ventured into Discord.
Nothing specific. There's so much out there now that is good. I'm really not hunting much at this point. Just anything people say is good that I can manage to snag. I like trying new stuff.
Also, it looks like they are going to start doing private barrels of the EC toasted at barrel proof. That could be good.
No, why would I do such a thing? I post on the private board, here, and the watch thread. I try not to mingle with the masses.
Dark Arts 10 year Barrel Proof just dropped on Seelbachs 159.99 is expensive, but it's gotten good reviews
It's definitely overwhelming how many channels there are and trying to stay up to date. I would say the best discord group is Rarebird101 that I am on, but clearly it's slanted very Turkey. I am also on the RC Facebook page so that is where I hear about RC drops. There is also a decent group on Twitter that posts daily on bourbon. If you follow me, you will see quickly. Those people are starting to help each other as well. It hink if you try to interact you make connections. It hasn't taken me long as I have only been doing all of this for a few months, if that. https://twitter.com/XxNYGATORxx
set alerts for the buy, sell, trade, and mule categories, but I am warning you it can be very addicting.
I'm about to just break down and buy a JD 12 on secondary this year. I don't guess my area is getting this year. I was able to snag it easily last year. I'm really excited about the 15 year coming out.
Also here is the RB101 Patreon site. You can get a paid membership which gives access to their SiB drops on discord. They have a very active discord community and access to some big players in the industry. Of course depending upon how much you pay, you get priority access. I am a Rarebreed member. I also have seelbach's pro membership, which actually good because you get first cracks at some things and shipping is always free with the code they give you. Well worth it. https://www.patreon.com/rarebird101/membership
There is a guy Ugly McGee who posts a what are you drinking thread every night. Lots of good info gets shared there. Issue is it’s gotten me drinking way more than I ever have, but typically not large pours during the week.
