haha...that won't be happening. Hamsterdam - Do you ever eat the chinese food that Lee makes in the deli on random days? It is suprisingly damn good.
None of then were but Luthera is by far the worst. I can actually get down with some Casa Ole green sauce.
tandn Can we make this the official Houston thread. I am moving there in like 3 weeks and will also be looking for suggestions. My wife is from there(Cy Creek HS in northwest Houston) but she hasn't lived there in a decade, so she doesn't know as much anymore. We will be living in her parents old house which is off of 249 and right next to Champions.
Adding to what * J Y * posted I would say, first of all have her buy a Fearless Critic book or the app for her phone. It is a great place to start and will put a ton of useful food information in her hands. Underbelly is one of Houston's newer high end restaurants and I have heard nothing but good reviews. Max's Wine Dive has great food, great wine, and is full of professional types of all ages. RDG/Bar Annie is right by where she works if she wants to get real fancy. Jenni's noodle house is good Americanized Vietnamese in the same area. My favorite sushi is at Nippon on Montrose (no homo). Fresh as hell and will not break the bank. I would say the same for Goode Co. Seafood. Anvil is a bar that consistently makes Esquire magazine's top ten bars in America. It is pricey and drinks take a while, but fuck they are worth it. Jackson's Watering Hole on Richmond is typically full of SEC grads, so that may help make for an easier transition. I used to work in the same building as the King Ranch Office. Stumbled upon it whilst searching for an empty shitter.
I have to be hammered to have fun at Jackson's. I like it when it isn't too crowded but the last few times I've gone on a Saturday it's impossible to get a drink.
No clue, just took the opportunity to make a comment cause it's in montrose. I'm sure it's p cool although anvil fags me out a bit. Stiff drinks though.
@*JY*seems to have done a pretty good job, but colonelrascals Tylers Kids and steamengine also know their shit and were really helpful. Everywhere we ate was good. Niko Nikos was good Greek food. Calliope's is a hole in the wall downtown that had good po boys/lunch. Gatlin's was good fucking BBQ. I really liked Gatlin's. Crazy Cajun's was really good Cajun. I can't figure out how to tag TY
Agree for the most part on what JY said. I do disagree on the Barbeque though, Goode company BBQ is awesome as is Baker's ribs on Voss. Mexican food Escalantes has some of the dankest queso you will find anywhere. Honestly, plenty of good food of all kinds because of the diversity. As far as female talent I don't think its near as bleak as you made it sound. I can't speak for it compared to dallas or austin, but there are definitely plenty of good white wimmens in town, you just have to go to the right bars. You also left out the midtown area which is a lot of fun, lots of good bars there as well. Houston is probably 10x more diverse than dallas and a lot of the poon is asian/indian chicks, but they tend to go to the more "clubby" bars like roak, red door, and some of the washington bars. Im sure TexTide04 has plenty of input for this thread
My favorite restaurant in town is Houston's. It's a medium/upper priced place, but I've had a bunch of shit there and taken quite a few people to eat there, and every single thing on the menu has hit
Also some more steakhouses: Smith & Wollensky, Taste of Texas, Del Frisco's, Strip House (chain but still good)
Meh agree to disagree on the BBQ, not everyone likes Baker's but its a great hole in the wall. Haven't met anyone who hasn't loved Goode Co. until this thread
lil help please? May be relocating to Houson...come itt http://the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/houston-tmbers.113172/
