Sooooo.... I just ordered a new toy tonight. We have some coyotes that really need to be taken care of back home. This will definitely help. My wife is fucking pissed right now that I did it but she'll get over it. I figured with all of the shit goin on lately, now would be as good of a time as any to get one before I can't anymore. Rock River Arms ATH Carbine. In .223./ 5.56. Now I just need to find a good, solid scope for it. Upgraded to the EOP platform. I'm pretty fucking excited for 8-12 weeks from now. Getting the one on the top.
Yep, good thing to get that fucker out of there. Where I hunt, it doesn't matter if there is a big buck that I have as my target buck, if I see one that needs to be culled, I'm tagging it. Just gives the target buck one more year.
How do you usually go about hunting coyotes? Calls or decoys or do you just sit and wait. I've got a co-worker who is losing cats left and right out at his place and he wants me to take care of some of them. I was currently just planning on picking up a cheap dual-call for coyotes and waiting on them to come in
Well we mostly do it two ways. Most of the time this way works best with snow on the ground, but we drive around square mile sections until we spot one. Then we do a stalk(usually wear completely white camo). The other way is that do the call. If you're doing the call way, do yourself a favor and get a foxpro. Those things are fucking awesome.
Spoiler View from the blind. Seen a bunch of aoudad over the weekend, but none big enough to shoot. Fun animals to watch, usually get into head butting scuffles around the feeders. Hoping for at least a doe so I can get some meat or a big daddy aoudad.
Badgers go HAM. Shot one with a 22-250 right under the chin from 30 yards and he still almost made it down the hole before dying.
Breasted out two of them and kept one whole with the skin on. Probably going to do bacon/cream cheese/jalapeno with the breasts and roast the other one with some brussels sprouts, chestnuts, and garlic and have it with wild rice.
I'll keep this in this thread because I don't want to start a debate. But if any of you guys have AR's, GET THE AMMO IF YOU CAN. It is insane right now. Flying off of the shelves in every sporting goods store here in Iowa. It's fucking ridiculous. Luckily, my lil bro has a good stockpile so I should be good to go when my gun gets here(if it ever does).
.223 ammo is hard to find anywhere right now. doesn't help either that Dicks has been pulling it from the shelves
I'm going to try to stock up after the holidays, but I know its going to be a royal pain A. finding good ammo and B. paying the absurd prices for it right now. What did you order?
Christmas present today H&R. 308 heavy barrel single shot with composite stock and grip. Trijicon scope with mildots, 2.5 x 56. Fucking pumped
You're the Kentucky football of skeet shooting Spoiler I'm coming back down the weekend of the 18th. Let's try out you and your brothers new guns
hoping this "blizzard" in central arkansas pushes a bunch of ducks east. was gonna go tomorrow morning, but with 28 mph winds and a rain and snow mix coming down all morning, gonna wait till thursday morning for 24 degree whether, partly cloudy skies and 5-10 mph wind.
Hoping the snow doesn't scare a shot load of ducks away from eastern Oklahoma before I can get back and shoot at them again
I went a few times in 2010, but somebody told me the other day that it closed. I don't remember who it was, though.
They were all over the place here this weekend. Not only did we finally have legitimate cold weather, we've finally gotten some good rain (still need more) so all the holes now have water in them for the first time all year. I don't think they knew what to do with themselves.
Took a nice shit in the woods this morning Pond was frozen over though so we called it quits after about 30 minutes
it's actually pretty easy when you get the hang of it. you can also make a dying rabbit call with it. used to hide in the bushes by my house drunk late night and scare the shit out of when i was in college
yea I've been goin at it for about 45 minutes now... gotten a lot better already... still think I'm about to swallow the damn thing every once in a while though
Shot a decent little 8 Pt last night, it was trotting across the field and I didn't have much time to judge it. It was a really old looking deer, but when I got up to it there was definite ground shrinkage. Oh well, I hadn't shot a deer off my property in a 3 years- hadn't shot a buck in 4.... and desperately needed the meat. It'll taste delicious.
shot a real nice 8 pt (for my area) tonight. I'll post a pic tomorrow. I'm pumped, shot it off same stand I shot the other one few nights ago
