Bama fans realizing they won't have any reason to get excited for a game until they inevitably reach the national championship every year has to be pretty difficult for them tbpf
I feel bad for the teams that will NEVER host a playoff game. Though I would imagine the mausoleum in Columbus is rather cold in December.
I don't think it's been mentioned but the idea of making unpaid athletes play up to 17 games is not good but hey we'll be entertained!
So Notre Dame doesn't get a bye because we already get a bye conference championship week, I guess. So now we get to lose at home to some upstart group of 5 team, very tight.
The SEC is going to have top 4, non-conference champion teams too. At least as often as ND will. I'm more than a little surprised Sankey and Swarbrick allowed this to get out of committee.
I guess. I vote that we call BYU and form a two team conference called the "Definitely Not Independent" conference though.
was going so well until i got to the sticking with the committee part instead of going back to a rankings system.
Notre Dame would have played Boise State. Northern Illinois would have played Florida. There were only 4 conference champions in the top 12.
How many weeks will there be between the end of conference championship games and the first round of the Playoffs?
sounds like 2 weeks, or no more than. Question I have is where Semifinals are staged and/or are they bid out.
Assuming these types of 12 seeds continue to exist, a top 4 ND team likely wins the trade off here outside of matchups later on.
Penn State would have been the biggest winner if CFB had initially gone with this 12-team model instead of the 4-team model. They would have made four playoff appearances, compared to their current zero. Ohio State, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida each would have gained three playoff appearances. 11 schools have made the 4-team playoff over the past seven years, Under the 12-team model, 39 schools would have made the playoff over the same span.
You’d need 10 locations plus the championship location that gets bid on. Use the NY6 bowls plus add the Indy, Detroit, Minneapolis, and the Bay Area for the games leading up to the final and that’s a fair compromise for the southern weather pussies imo
