i can get on board w that i maybe like a few better (anything on animals) but hard to argue against time
Wrong. It’s a great song but there are better, have a cigar comes to mind but I could probably think of more
I think I enjoy the post Waters stuff more than most. Also agree that "Time" is their best song and probably my favorite song of all time. Gilmour is the GOAT and I'm going to be devastated when he passes.
I like some of the post Waters stuff as well but it’s mainly nostalgia for me. I was 7 when TDB came out and it got me hooked on Floyd. Like hooked, hooked. My dad had to buy a new tape because i played it so much that it broke.
The greatest album of all time is Dark Side of the Moon, but Animals is Pink Floyd's best album. It's the perfect marriage of Waters' lyrics/vision and Gilmour's virtuosity. Wish You Were Here is right there with it in that regard. DSOTM will always be my first love, though. I think it has the most depth of them all and speaks most closely to the human condition, while also being groundbreaking. Yes, Time is my favorite. The Wall is a trip, is fun with all the variety, and is the most radio friendly, but Waters demanded too long of a leash in parts. Must have been draining for Gilmour. Greatest Pink Floyd moment is below. First time hearing it (on good headphones), I swear Gilmour came down from outer space to give us those licks.
Not only the best album in history but also the best ending to an album. BD>Eclipse is such a glorious crescendo
Speaking of Animals, it's interesting how a section of lyrics matches up with the last four years. Hey you, Whitehouse Ha, ha, charade you are You house proud town mouse Ha, ha, charade you are You're trying to keep our feelings off the street You're nearly a real treat All tight lips and cold feet And do you feel abused? You got to stem the evil tide And keep it all on the inside Mary you're nearly a treat Mary you're nearly a treat But you're really a cry.
This is wild. Unlike any other Pink Floyd I’ve ever heard, although I’m admittedly not into the bootlegs and what not.
And it’s too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around. So have a good drown as you go down all alone dragged down by the stone.
Np. Had to do some searching to find a cover of the complete song that wasn’t a medley. Taking me back down memory lane, too. After having been a fan for years, first time I was able to see Marco was at the Bowery in 2014/2015. Stood next to a smoke show the entire show and found out during the encore when he brought her on stage that it was Marco’s wife.
Gotta be fun for those folks on the right who are Floyd fans and have to ignore the politics of the band to enjoy them
He made an explicit statement before the show started, "if you're one of those "I love pink Floyd but I can't stand Roger's politics" fans then you'd do well to fuck off to the bar right now" It was great.
Yup real hard to continue to ignore him for the sake of his music. This hurts, one of my all time fav bands.
Same with Aussie Pink Floyd. I’m pretty sure they they started in Brit Floyd but one of the original members left to start the Australian version of it. Same concept, both are excellent. Love that they both use the props too, and in some cases, the original props
Thoughts on Obscured? Knew about Wot's and Childhood's End, both of which I adore. I listened to the rest of it and appreciate it a lot. Softer, acoustic side of PF.
