Total War: Warhammer Civilization 6 ^^^^ these are two types of game that you can only really play on PC with a mouse and keyboard. all the other genres can be played on console easily enough.
Get Steam Get Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Get Age of Empires II: HD Delete Smite Get DotA 2 Kill yourself Resurrect a new man Create your own meme Delete DotA 2 Get XCOM 2 Get Mass Effect Collection Get Witcher series Get KOTOR and KOTOR 2 Get other random super cheap fun games during Steam sales NEVER play those games Win at life Ascend Flame console gamers once ascension is complete
If you want another shooter, Battlefield 1 is enjoyable, not sure if WW1 is your jam though. Dota 2 is still huge, League of Legends is still a thing I think, those are your biggest MMORPGs. EVE Online is a sci-fi space based online game you might check out. Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous are in development, flying based massively multiplayer online games, Elite being the more developed of the two. World of Planes and World of Tanks are big online games as well, exactly what they sound like, if that is your type of thing. If you haven't already, get signed up for Steam, reviews are pretty reliable there as to what is good. Origin is EA's online service, they have good deals at time, they are giving away Mass Effect 1 and 2 right now as well, though you may have played them on XBox.
Steam is the leading online game service, developed and run by the people who made Half-Life, Valve Software. Speaking of that, do yourself a favor and play Half Life and Half Life 2. Some of the best single player FPS games ever made.
You would need to get overwatch again but it's only $40 on PC. The worst part is just not being able to play comp until your hit the level boundary again. I'd be up for playing quick play if you get it though. Grab CS:GO though, it's cheap and the top FPS. Not really many PC only games I can think of, just genres that are generally better with kb+m.
been surfing a lot on cs go lately. pretty solid community around that bunny hopping is too fucking hard though
Fuck surfing is so hard too, the "easy" maps are ridiculous and there never really is a way to learn how I get more speed. Like I can watch someone do it, do what I think is the exact same thing and just have not enough speed to make the crazy jumps.
the server i'm usually in has sv_airaccelerate set pretty high i think, so i'm sure my raw surf skill is pretty shit. it has helped me a bit with my bhop, but i can only string together like 2 at a time. still getting air strafing down, which i've found is the key to getting the most speed (learning to land as smoothly as possible with the ramp) but it's a tougher concept than i was expecting. as always, the tickrate plays into it too, because you have to be pretty precise bunnyhopping off the end of the ramp.
I'll buy OW again. I'll need those 25 levels just getting used to the controls probably. Also, I'll pick-up CS:GO, but I have a strong feeling I'll get fucking wrecked and hate myself for it. Odin, I'll DL OW this afternoon, but probably won't be playing until Monday or tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. Star Citizen looks effing awesome, I'll certainly be picking it up. This list alone gets me p excites. http://www.pcgamer.com/new-games-2017/
keep in mind that Star Citizen is in perpetual Early Access stage, a lot of folks don't think it will ever get completely finished. Just as a buyer beware, read these articles (all part of a big feature about the game). It will be amazing if it delivers on the things it has promised. http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/09/29/what-happened-to-star-marine-star-citizens-missing-module http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/10/10/star-citizen-single-player-campaign-delayed-into-2017 http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/09/23/inside-the-troubled-development-of-star-citizen http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/09/30/what-to-make-of-star-citizenhttp://www.kotaku.co.uk/2016/09/30/what-to-make-of-star-citizen
It'll be next week sometime before i can get on there. i'll let you know when. Then we can both struggle with the controls.
surfing is the goat mod for CS protip: best weapon for getting kills while surfing that isn't the shotgun is the scout
That PC Gamer list is excellent, I cannot wait for Prey, Rising Storm 2, The Walking Dead game (that trailer, OMFG), South Park, BattleTech, TABS, and god knows what else I will find on Steam through the year.
Also, this guy got early access to the Star Marine part of the game, looks like it will be pretty fun:
contemplating picking back up CS GO, played competitively back in 1.6 days from watching some twitch streams man the game has evolved and strategies have gotten intense suspect i'll get dumped on
The whole point of match making is that nobody gets dumped on, you always match with similar players. And it's way more accurate than overwatch, since individual skill more directly relates to team performance. The only hard part is the grind to level 21 (1.5-2 months) where you'll deal with some smurfs and cheaters more frequently than you want to.
wanted to play CSGO for first time in years welcome to Steam updates, CS GO updates, Direct X updates, fuck my life I dont even feel like playing anymore
Working on changing my steam account name from 6w34j56wygerfwer to something easy to remember, but having issues. Edit: NM, that's apparently impossible. In that case, I may delete whatever account had been associated with my gmail and create a new one.
Since you like Smite, I'll say you referred me... If I can figure it out. I'm turning it on now while OW DLs. First time gaming on a PC (minus a little bit of Starcraft 2 about 5-6 years ago) in like 8-9 years. I've forgotten all of the movement buttons. :(
Edit: Issue resolved (hopefully) Spoiler Ok, I'm having pixelation issues with Overwatch, so I'm bringing my question here as I'm sure this will apply with all games. Before I start, I only bought this laptop for work, but I wanted to get a laptop that could also double as a gaming device. I realize it'll never be as good as a full-scale sole-purpose gaming PC, but I'm also not going to pay that much money atm when I'm also not good enough at gaming to drop that kind of dough. However, I would like to maximize what I do have to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. Right now, Overwatch is definitely playable (I've tested it), but it could be a bit better wrt graphics.
hooked up my pc for the first time after a recent move. can't detect the cpu. i have gone through absolutely everything i can possibly think of to fix it with no luck whatsoever.
i've been playing cs:go for like 2 hours i'm pretty bad, but surprisingly not as bad as most people at rank 3. the cuntiness of some people at this level is starting to annoy me, though.
Been playing a bit more cs. I'm only up to rank 4 or 5 now, but it seems like the matchmaking system isn't very balanced... or maybe good players who got banned are working back through? I played in a 30 round competitive match last night where one dude had 50+ kills. Unfortunately he was not on my team, but somehow we came back from being down 14-8 to tie 15-15.
Also this system where I get a crate with something cool in it but I have to buy a $2.50 key to open it is bullshit
Basically just think of anything before you hit 21 as more fun/casual/learning. Don't get too worried about the quality of the games or you might not make it. Once you hit 21 prime match making begins and almost every game is great. Just sell the crates and get your $0.01. I mean it's stupid but just think of it as other people who choose to open the crates are funding all of the development. I've just bought any skins I actually want, since the %s on crates are insanely low.
Total War: Warhammer has consumed my free time and then some. I'm canceling social obligations to stay in and play. I find myself strategizing and thinking about my next move all the time. It's not uncommon for me to be riding the elevator at work and think shit like "next we need to move south and raid Karak Zirn, the Greenskins are becoming too threatening." Fucking incredible game.
What are some things that new players should know? Fwiw I've played counter-strike off and on since 1.5, moreso toward the 1.6/source years. One thing I already know I can improve on is being more patient, but it's hard because everyone else wants to be so aggressive, regardless of whether we're attacking or defending. Also I already want to punch the people who give useless/harmful info over voicechat
For me improving came from basically just alternating between FFA deathmatch to improve aiming and match making to improve in game knowledge and finding spots you're comfortable playing (still all I do, working towards LEM now). I watched some spray control videos and there are some good spray control custom maps, but I didn't feel this was as useful as the FFA since you generally resort back to what comes natural when in real situations. Pistol DM is pretty useful too since teams that win pistol rounds have a huge advantage.
as far as tactics go, warowl is one of my favorite youtubers for improving my gamesense/skill. another good idea is to watch some pro matches on maps that you want to play for ideas on how to hold bombsites and angles i mostly DM and do the aimbotz map to warm up before competitive, and i'm just starting to play more comp, so i'm hoping to get out of silver before too long (lol) the best thing is to kill people with kindness even if you're starting to tilt, because when i do that, people are generally more willing to be helpful and give good callouts
i've thought about making one, didn't know if there would be enough interest (seems like there probably is)
watching like 20 minutes of some dreamhack game between SK and Navi taught me a few things. one is that when possible, those good teams will almost always try to "trade" kills when they have a numbers advantage. the patience thing was another. these mofos in my competitive games are always trying to rush as ct on bomb maps.
its amazing how late the higher levels will wait to do an execute on T side. i saw virtus.pro vs sk and i think it was on train where sk would wait until like 20 seconds left to molly and smoke onto B, and plant with a few seconds left. no way anyone in normal matchmaking is organized enough to do that, but it's always awesome to watch.
