yeah it’s not a good album, agree vocals took a step back. disappointing. did the old vocalist also do the keyboards? loved the atmospherics on Dreamless. the keyboards are so generic sounding on the new one.
I love Fenriz... just not on vocals when Ted is around I liked that song a lot more on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th listens though
I'm sure you guys know but Amon Amarth has a new album coming out next week and the first 2 songs they've released off of it are awesome. They're playing in Chicago in October with Arch Enemy but the venue is 18 and over. My 11 year old will be crushed.
Awesome your 11 year old likes heavy music. I think the first few Amon Amarth albums are really top tier melodic death metal (DEATH IN FIRE!!!!), but they've really lost me on every release since Twilight Of The Thunder God. They need some fresh ideas.
overall ridiculousness aside (love it or hate it with him), the new Abbath track is awesome. the fact that we have both Abbath and the new Demonaz-led Immortal, and they're both good, is fantastic.
Listened to this album today at work - actually a couple of times Rock solid stoner rock album with random awesome Danzig worship
There's no such thing as, "awesome Danzig worship". Treat yourself to a proper 2019 stoner release that came out a few weeks back. But don't just take my word for it... Green Vinyl - SOLD OUT! Green Marbled Vinyl - SOLD OUT! Black Vinyl - SOLD OUT! Red Vinyl - SOLD OUT! White Vinyl - SOLD OUT! Shirt Bundle - SOLD OUT! Compact Disc - SOLD OUT!
all I know is that Cedric Bixler-Zavala of Mars Volta fame used to jokingly refer to himself as the "Latin Danzig" so he has to be pretty cool
Honestly the musicianship and songwriting on this album is outstanding. It’s the Insomnium guy on vocals for sure but no idea on rest of band aside from probably Finnish. Might be melodeath record of 2019
well, it looks like those Mgla allegations had truth to them. pretty damning stuff in the link below. i'm super disappointed. will be taking a step away from black metal for a while. seems like anytime i start to like a band, they have some horrific background/associations and refuse to issue a blanket denunciation. http://www.brooklynvegan.com/mgla-deny-racism-accusations-give-statement-on-show-cancellations/
Just assume any member of any band that plays with Revenge is a neo-Nazi and you won't be disappointed.
Biting the bullet and traveling to fucking Jacksonville fucking Florida to see Tool hopefully play a new song and Meshuggah for the first time this Sunday. I also get to gag through bring me the horizon. I haven’t really cared for Meshuggah stuff since Obzen, but I’m still pumped to see them.
They go on at like 5, so it’s going to be weird as shit to see them in the light. Also trying to weigh getting close enough to see vs. dealing with festival trash in Pantera shirts moshing.
Also, where does everybody stand on earplugs at shows? I’ve never done it before, but been to several where I wish I had.
I saw Explosions in the Sky like 8 years ago or so and my ears were ringing for like 2 days after, so I wear clear ones like these. They're pretty nice. Unintended consequence is that you can sometimes hear the shitty singing voices of the people around you.
ok so the first 2 songs I heard off the new Amon are quite fun. i stand corrected. VIKINGS! RAISE THE SHIELD WALL! HOLD THE FRONT LINE TILL DEATHHHHHHHHH! they stopped being a serious metal band long ago, but there’s no denying that would be so much fun live
I'm mostly through my first listen and the album is up and down for me although I'm sure I'll like it more as I listen to it more. Standout tracks are Crack the Sky, Mjolner Hammer of Thor, Raven's Flight, and The Berserker at Stamford Bridge.
Didn’t realize that Frederik was no longer touring with Meshuggah. Was a bummer, but Per Nilsson filled in quite nicely. They fucking ruled.
