Or knew he was going to need a job soon anyway when Bama fires Saban like some of their fanbase wants
I know some former players who really like Key. Kinda wonder if he just got wrapped up in GOL's downfall.
i mean, it sounded like he just quit on that season when he knew GOL was out and didn't do much of anything the rest of the year. on top of that i never recall anyone going "wow brent key's ___ team is killing it."
Lol, nice comment from one of our other QBs (I think) Also, why does Blake look like he is old enough to be KZ’s dad? He has to only be like 6 or 7 years older
https://www.tampabay.com/sports/usf...kins-the-subject-of-threats-in-ucf-aftermath/ There are fans in every fanbase can be pretty shitty. Even if he had intentionally went for a dirty hit (which after seeing it a few times in the last couple months I don’t think he did) I’m sure he wasn’t intending to make KZ possibly lose his leg.
I’m all for open competition as long as they aren’t out here handing Winbush the job. If he earns it cool.
He’ll earn it. I mean really who is going to beat him out? Mack who has started 3 games total? Quadry who has thrown a single pass in a game? DG who has only been on campus for a week?
BW will be the best QB on campus if you can break him from his yips. Watching him take of the first time will be a treat, dude can run. Keeping him getting balls in the hands of receivers after a miss or two is his issue. I’d say ND goes 10-2 last year if he played the whole season. But Book was just more consistent and that’s what we needed.
I get that but you can’t replace having real game experience and right now Mack is the only one with that. I’m believing that wimbush is a better version of current Mack. Maybe Mack will develop some more going into next season but I’m not holding my breath. Either way, it will just be a stop gap until the return of Milton or the ascension of DG
Because of our scheme and the defenses we play most of the balls he will throw are going to be to guys so wide open that a storm trooper could hit them
He still able to enroll this semester? Thought Fri was last day? Of course I'm sure we make exceptions for football players.
As long as they are intermediate to long he’ll kill it. His biggest struggles were short touch throws. Kid has a canon.
That seems to be our current qb's issue as well, just with way less experience and a case of the fumbles. I'm hopeful he'll be a strong enough stand in to get us the g5 autobid again. I think its the cotton bowl next year? It'll be another program first.
Everything I’ve read about Wimbush seems like he’s a really good fit for our offense. Right now Mack has played 4 games. The one outlier is the Memphis game. He didn’t look good against ecu, usf or lsu. I definitely expect Wimbush to start next year.
Checkout Wimbush’s film against Michigan. The stats don’t pop out but that was a good game against a pretty good D.
I never saw a bad highlight tape. That said I see good things and certainly a step above Mack in composure when the play breaks down in that tape. Why did this guy lose his starting job again? Unless there was an injury I assume he is prone to spells of poor execution or decisions.
Exactly that. He is physically a 5* but he just couldn’t be consistent. Grounding screens, missing reads, etc. Book was the opposite until Clemson, nifty but really consistent throwing. I honestly think the change will be good for him. QB at ND brings a ton of stress and it got to him.
Talent > Experience I wouldn't hold lack of game experience against any of the current QBs and DG. If they step up by all means let them play. Don't just give it to the guy because he has experience. The winning streak is over and we should still be able to roll with any of those guys. No reason to cling to one just based on experience. Then hopefully whoever it is gets rhythm vs famu and Fau
It depends on how big the talent gap is. I’d rather have the experienced guy to manage the game than a guy who may be a little more talented but prone to mistakes or gets overwhelmed because he doesn’t have the in game experience. I don’t think any of the guys currently in the locker room are going to be that head and shoulders over Wimbush in pure talent to negate that experience factor. If they are then by all means they should be the starter
Mack hasn't shown the ability to scramble on a broken play once. If a team can successfully blitz him, like LSU did, we'll struggle. Wimbush gives us a much better chance imo. Coaches are the experts though. I trust they'll roll with the best option available.
Unless something crazy happens, it will be Wimbush. I mean like DG happens to be trevor Lawrence level ready type of crazy
