this possession is killing us, to be fair. you guys aren't giving us a sniff of the ball and it's killing that whole free flow united style of play. and for God sake get park on and Scholes on. he should have started anyways and brought park on.
They keep talking about how Van Der Saar is having problems with the ball but Barca keeps trying to dribble it into the goal. Especially with all the space they're giving Messi he should really look to shoot more.
yea, you'd think with how the ball was flying in warm ups you'd see a lot more people taking shots from distance and crashing the goal.
Is there a bigger douchebag/faggot in world sports than Ronaldo? I acknowledge his skill, but he is a diving and whining bitch.
I don't watch much soccer, but it looks like Barcelona is a much better team. I don't really understand much of the gameother than trying to get the biscuit in the basket, but they are making Manchester look slow and unskilled. That Messi guy is twice as fast as Manchester's defenders. Ronaldo has gotten close a few times so maybe he will get something going.
My only regret is that Alan Minor isn't here... BTW, the play of the game might have been Valdes charging down Ronaldo after the second goal had been scored. Barcelona were fucked in the back and Valdes bailed them out... Ronaldo proves that he still has the best big game disappearing act in the world.
barca fans: now you can look forward to being called bangwagoners. i guess that's a positive i can take away from this..
Puyol: Man of the Match Xavi is the best service midfielder in the game. Iniesta is criminally underrated. And then there's Xavi Alanso on Liverpool Is there anyway Spain doesn't win the World Cup in 2010?
No people will still bandwagon to Man U because they're the best in the Premiership. Most people looking for a team will turn to an English team first.
It's going to be nice to hear a little bit less out of the United bandwagon fans. The Barcelona fans will come out of the closet, but it won't be anywhere near as bad as this bullshit that we have seen since United last lost in the CL.
Iniesta and Messi have unparalleled control with the ball at their feet. Iniesta was carving Man U's goons every time he touched it. I'd much prefer that style of "flair" from my attacking midfielders than the dancing gay shit Ronaldo tries to pull. Also, Xavi never makes a wrong decision, never touches it more than he needs to, never loses it, always puts it exactly where it needs to be. Spanish players are so technically perfect.
Screw fake ronaldo. This game better quiet all his lovers. The dude is a diving f-ing tool. Not even among the top 10 players on the field. I hope he goes to Real Madrid. I'd love to watch him get owned by Xavi and Iniesta at least twice a year.
Great match. I was surprised that Man U was never able to put any pressure on Barca after the first 10. They got punched in the mouth and never fought back.
Torres is the best player Spain will have. David Villa and Sergio Ramos are also incredible. They will be unbelievable in S. Africa.
Villa is better than Torres (the Germany goal is the extent of his contribution to Spanish squad more or less). Xavi/Iniesta are better than both.
Styles make fights. Torres is the best Lone Striker in the game. His ability to control long volleys and make turns against defenders is unparalleled. But, that's not how Spain plays. As a Germany fan, I was confident about the game until Villa was ruled unfit to play; because I knew Torres would just school our defenders 1 on 2... sure enough he did. For Spain, Villa is the much better striker. He works so much better going towards the goal with the ball to his feet, receiving tick tack service from Iniesta, Xavi, Xavi Alanso, and Fagregas, etc. Whereas Torres is a Marker-man Striker. Still, having that type of flexibility is what makes Spain the clear cut favorites to win it all in '10. I like the Mannshaft's chances should they get through without having to play Spain, but if they meet up, it's all Espana imo.
You might want to look up scoring records in La Liga (when Torres was there), UCL and the National team. The kid is a beast but is never the best player w/ a Spanish jersey on.
Just to add on, if you put Torres on Italy, they win the WC in '10. Italy's style allows Torres to play with his back towards goal and receiving service... whereas Spain's style forces him to play towards goal with the ball at his feet--where he's considerably weaker.
While I agree with what your saying, I dont think we are arguing the same thing. Im not arguing which players style of play fits with which team and their opponent. Since lineups change and opponents change its tough to make comparisons. When talking strictly talent and ability I believe Torres is better than Villa.
If you wanna go by "strictly talent", sure I agree I guess. But you can never do that in team sports. What if Joe Montana is drafted by Oakland instead of San Francisco? He would be out of the league in 3 years at Oakland with their Down-The-Field-Every-Down style. But, he was drafted by Bill Walsh and the result: greatest QB of all time arguably. From Goal.Com's match ratings: Xavi -9.0: A genius. Xavi is quite simply the best playmaker in world football. Ran the game from the 25th minute onwards, assisted Messi's goal, created Henry and Puyol's one-on-one chances, hit the post with a free kick, and did so much more. Iniesta -9.0: Started tentatively, but soon dominated the game along with partner in crime Xavi. Provided the pass for Eto'o goal, embarked on numerous dizzy runs, and was unplayable for long stretches.
Again I agree, my original point was that Torres is the best spanish born player right now in my opinion. I certainly see where others will disagree, especially with how good Xavi was today. Sergio Ramos also has a solid argument.
