unless there was a shadow AD hire, a la trump running our gov't currently while biden lives out his days as puppet president in shackles, i don't believe we'll know of a coaching hire prior to an AD being placed, or both introduced simultaneously. I don't think that makes too much sense and i don't think an AD would want to come on necessarily knowing that hire happened without him being involved. but i could be wrong. Spoiler i do not actually believe the trump b.s. btw. feel the need to clarify.
All I know is that the last 2 times we were a lock for Dino Babers, Kiffin, Kevin Sumlin, Rhett Lashlee...
yeah, i feel like lebby is the new dino in this round. but perhaps this time we are going with a normal hire rather than someone on no one's radar like the last two. seemed like a DW way to go about it rather than the normal way.
I think that was a DW thing. I get the sense he thinks he’s way fucking smarter than everyone else in the room and going with these surprise picks was his way of showing how galaxy brained he is. It worked with Frost (why it worked is debatable), and I think he got cocky with Heup and just assumed it would work again. With the players making the campaign that they are, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an internal AD hire and Lebby. Maybe they make the internal hire a one year thing and see how it goes and revisit.
Nobody is coming to be HC without the new AD. Especially a one year contract. You are just asking be be scapegoat fired for any hiccups.
No one reads what I post. AD at Louisiana tech. Left here like a year or two ago. See my post elsewhere, think he's on campus now or will be very soon for at least an interview if not more.
More 4 star recruits in the last 3 days than over huep’s 3 years it also sounds like Milton while at FSU was still part of recruiting him to UCF lol
It seems like everyone who leaves us has said that in their introductory press conferences for their new jobs; DW, Huepel, even Frost did. For example, this was Danny’s presser: he called us “that place” enough times that our social media people did this on all our stuff
Speaking of our new WR, interesting who he is following now Im pretty sure he didn’t even have an ole miss offer so I can’t think of any other reason for why he would start following an ole miss coordinator
DG the last couple days seems like he is taking Huepel leaving as an insult. Like he is going to ball out more just to spite him now
Strange that Kiper has Cleveland taking A-Rob instead of Grant in the first round. I have heard no buzz at all about him in the top rounds. 26. Cleveland Browns Aaron Robinson, DB, UCF The Browns had major issues in their secondary last season, which started in training camp when rookie safety Grant Delpit tore his Achilles tendon and second-year corner Greedy Williams hurt his shoulder. Both second-rounders ended up missing the entire season. With Robinson, Cleveland could add a big, aggressive defensive back who can play multiple positions. The 6-1 Alabama transfer played corner and nickelback for the Knights, and I could see him playing some safety in the NFL. I moved him up my rankings after watching more tape of his last two seasons.
A-Rob has been getting some good run since the season ended and he had a monster Sr. Bowl week. I have seen a few mocks with him as a late 1st in the last few weeks.
cool, the ones I've seen had been gushing about Richie but hadn't mentioned A-Rob. Would be awesome to see two of our defensive players go in the first two rounds.
Dungeon going nuts over Missouri's AD potentially being the top choice. Few other sitting ADs at Sun Belt/MAC/CUSA type schools being discussed as well.
Everyone is pissed. Cartwright potentially going safe and hiring his buddy. Saw his daughter worked in our athletic department?
I hope not. This guy is about as boring as watching paint dry. UCF Needs a guy who is going to be high energy and really knows how to leverage our amazing social media presence.
That way they can ignore open records requests. If the school president is e-mailing AD candidates and shit, that would get out, and if you're sitting pretty in a job right now why would you want everyone to know you're looking at leaving.
Truman thoughts on him? The UCF faithful on our rivals board are up in arms about this. I don't give a damn who the AD is as long as we hire a solid HC for football. The rest will take care of itself but it sounds like the "inside deal" is close to being finalized and some high money donors to the athletic department are not very happy about it
Most Mizzou fans wouldn’t be too upset to see him go. He gave Cuonzo a loaded guaranteed contract for 5 years. Lot of the fan base thought it was crazy and w Cuonzo’s somewhat mediocre results, they feel justified. I dont hold that against him too much. Our bball program was in the dumps and it was gonna be hard to get a good coach w a standard contract. However, the last football hiring process was really bad. He kinda ran off Odom, which I dont have a huge issue with, but they both butted heads and were morons about it. Long story short, he had a deal in place w Blake Anderson (Arkansas St that was just hired by Utah St) took it to get approved by the Board of Curators and they laughed in his face and said get someone better. He pretty much had the search taken away and few of the members flew w him to meet w and hire Drinkwitz, who everyone is really high on. I was optimistic when we hired him because he did well at his previous stops, but his time at Mizzou has been rocky at best. That said you guys have one of the more desirable jobs for up and comers so I wouldn’t worry too much about landing a good coach, regardless of the AD.
The pressure campaign may be working but idk. Hopefully we go a different direction from Sterk. It sounds like it’s been pretty close to being a done deal.
I understand Mizzou’s shitty AD finding a job from his friend when his time is ending there, but why on earth with Auburn’s young AD leave town for UCF?
