3:20 mark. I don't even like snakes and I know they are wrecking havoc on the Everglades but still sucks to see one that big killed.
Snake bit the shit out of him. He was leaking bad. If I'm being honest I was kinda rooting for the snake.
Check and see if any local universities have published more state specific guides, though the books can be difficult to source and expensive.
this guy pisses me off. Either he's lying about not removing the venom glands or he's the dumbest fuck ever. Look, you can treat a king cobra like your puppy.
All I have to contribute to the thread lately is our dog got sprayed by a skunk the other night so that was fun. Little bastard charged the dog while it was peeing, not even looking at the skunk. These holes were made last night so it should be fun to deal with. Ones under the deck by the house, the other the back fence.
Friends daughter just got bit by a young cottonmouth. She was running through yard and didn’t see it. Luckily she’s ok and got out of the hospital yesterday.
we’ve killed 3 or 4 at my parents’ place so far - strangely, they’ve all been at night, usually because one of the dogs finds one when they go out to piss
Have a friend who was out at a camp last night and they ended up killing a timber rattler. I hate it, but at night, and it's some sort of children's summer camp, so I understand. Picture was beautiful though. Spoiler
A little desert museum on the AZ/NM border has one of these that was caught in the wild. I should've took a pic bc this thing was every bit of 7 ft and close to the size of a barrel of a bat. Biggest rattler Ive ever seen.
They caught these on camera behind the fence the other night. Not sure if its the same skunk that sprayed our dog.
Possums are ok. With a 7 lb dog I am no fan of skunks when they start digging under the fence and getting into the yard. Dog went out to pee last week and a skunk charged and sprayed her. Poor dog wasn't even paying attention.
not so much on the skunks, but possums are the shit - my girlfriend is obsessed with armadillos for some reason too, but you don’t usually find them here until you get outside of the city
I just caught an armadillo in my racoon trap a couple of days ago I'll drop the next one off at your parents place for her
My wife watched this guy crawl out from that car's undercarriage this morning. She said when she stopped filming he went right back under the car and back in the undercarriage. I wanna say groundhog but that tail looks really flat from this angle. Surely it's not a beaver outside of Nashville...
I trapped and released like 3 groundhogs in our backyard when we first moved here and haven't seen one since.
Found this dood hiding under a free standing fire pit in the back yard. Wonder if the dog cornered it under there this morning.
Guys, we are really getting away from snakes. Or maybe we should rename the thread “what kind of animal is this?”
I just doubted myself cause I hadn't seen one that big or seen one with a flat tail like that. But that could be the angle of the video too. I meant more that we are more in the city and not that close to any rivers or streams where I'd imagine you'd find them. We are close to percy priest lake though, probably some in that area.
I guess unless we start a separate thread for all animals? All the experts seem to follow this thread. Owsley is my go to for all wildlife questions on TMB.
Spent 45 minutes yesterday with a black snake in my backyard that would not go back into the woods. He was pretty goofy tbqh. Wasn't worried about me at all. I even filmed a bird try to get him. Bird had a set of cods on him to try the snake, it was all of 4ft long.
So, I was in Warner Robbins GA last week (stopped on a road trip at a park) and saw several tan/white snakes on a riverbed. No pics, but was wondering what they were. Just solid color.
Speaking of wildlife with fur... I'm debating trying to put up a bat box. If I could get a couple hanging out here I imagine they would mow through all the damn bugs. Not sure how the wife would feel about that though.
Just say it's a bird house, and then when the bats come say, "Weird, guess bats like bird houses too."
I also have a video of the bird trying to get him but the whole recording has me commentating. It's pretty terrible imo.
