When I saw that MGM was auctioning off Picasso's I figured that the restaurant was closed. Pleased to see it's still open apparently and the still are going to have several and this is just to refresh the art collection to include more contemporary pieces.
Staying at Planet Hollywood next Wed-Sun. Haven't been to Vegas in 2.5 years, seems like ages ago. Excited to see how things have changed. Is it worth it to check out Resorts World at some point?
Depends what your goal is. If you just want to see something new then probably yes. If you’re wanting to build up status at TR then probably not.
yeah wouldn't be gambling much there, just want to see the property. looks like they spared no expense
Eat lunch there imo. there’s idk 20 Asian street food stalls. It’s good food and v convenient and semi reasonable prices.
doing a cabana at Stadium Swim on Friday afternoon-evening and SummerSlam on Saturday. I know nothing about wrestling, should be interesting. Boys trip
Cancelled for this upcoming weekend. Just going to go with all this shit popping back up doesn’t really make sense. Mostly it’s the being stuffed in a tube with a bunch of likely unvaccinated Iowans for 3 hours twice. Not worth carrying some shit home to a toddler just to go chill for a few days. Sucks but I’ll get over it. There’s a pretty slim chance of anything bad happening, but we decided not to risk it for absolutely no good reason. So on that note, I’ve traded in a concert weekend and a Vegas trip for two bullshit visits with my shitty in-laws. Covid is stupid. I know, this is the least of anyone’s worries. Just need to vent a little.
The pools generally stay open through the end of October, correct? Staying at the cosmo the weekend of Oct 8th and hoping to get a cabana with a tv to watch football on Saturday.
Looks awesome but not familiar with it. Can you get your own cabana/tv or is it only the big screen? Going to want to control which games we’re watching.
Wife's work just locked down all travel which means our free trip to Vegas on the company dime (slated to start next Thursday) is gonzo. Was really limping to the finish line looking forward to that. Instead I get to continue hanging out with my kids for that week. I'm still drinking like I'm in Vegas.
The Cosmopolitan is being sold to MGM Resorts International. I’m glad my second most favorite resort is joining the family. This means MGM will have every property on that side of the Strip from The Mirage to Mandalay Bay, except for Caesar’s Palace. Article attached. https://www.wsj.com/articles/blacks...rms-most-profitable-property-deal-11632744001
Good point. No. I always forget about Jockey Club. It is still basically a time-share property with it’s own management. About 80 residences are occupied full-time. The others are rented out by individual owners and the management company. There is no casino at Jockey Club, so it isn’t considered to be a casino-resort. Cosmopolitan cooperated with the owner’s association on some things in the past. For example they allowed JC occupants to use the pool area and provided reserved parking for them. I’m not sure if that still is in effect. After MGM takes over I have no idea what the arrangements will be with the owner’s association.
Wonder if there are going to be anti-trust issues with that sale or if MGM unloads another property to avoid that.
It’s not terrible. It’s not what I’d call good, either. Decent central location. Used to have a fun craps table by the carnival court casino entrance. Pool is bottom tier. That level of the building smells like noodles. First place I stayed in Vegas after turning 21.
Loved that craps table, getting some fresh air was great and being able to see outside and play is the best.
I attended a conference in Vegas on my own dime once, so I opted for the cheapest lodging I could find. Hello Harrah’s! In the check-in line the woman behind me was a very nice looking blond milf. Probably an 8, with enhanced body parts. The next morning as I walked to my conference location she was standing at a corner still trolling for customers. Probably a weekend hooker who flew in from Salt Lake or somewhere. When I opened the curtains in my room I was looking at a filthy space about 15’ x 15’, filled with pipes running every direction. I’ll never stay there again, but I’m glad I had the experience.
Going to Vegas in 6 weeks for the Chiefs SNF game. Any idea how their tailgate has been so far in the early season? Curious if we just stay on the strip to close to game time or migrate over the parking lot even though we won't have a vehicle or grill. Also, its looking impossible to get into the game for under $500 once fees are tacked at the various ticket resell sites. Still excited.
If it were me I’d hang around MB/Luxor area before the game the walk the 15 minutes over close to when you want to go in. This is based on doing zero research on the actual stadium lots.
I read something about tailgating being prohibited in the lots. I’m not sure how valid it is. It makes sense though. The Resort Casino companies supported the building of the stadium at its location because it meant increased booze and food sales and gambling. If people spend hours at the lots tailgating they aren’t spending money at the resorts.
https://lasvegasmagazine.com/entert...ud-light-beer-garden-raiders-allegiant-vegas/ here's your tailgate
got a free trip to Vegas in November cause it was cheaper for my buddy to fly me out and for me to get him a room using my comps. the weekend of the Cheifs Raiders game. cheapest ticket is 550 on stubhub in the fucking nosebleeds
I was thinking about going out. I’m not sitting in the roomba’s dust bin for $600 after fees, tho. Might book it all on refundable points and see if tickets dip. I promise I won’t ghost you this time, Nole0515
I have a friend that has access to corporate/suite tix with VGK and Raiders. He got to do a full access stadium tour the other day. He is keeping an eye out to see if he can snag KC tickets or VGK suite tickets. If he comes up and has another I’ll keep you in mind. VGK are playing at home Saturday and Monday bookending the KC/LV game.
This makes total sense for MGM. It will cut into F&B revenue at the individual properties, but from a corporate POV it’s smart. It will draw guests staying at non-MGM properties.
If you are actually in town, ticket prices always plummet leading up to the game. Basically a game of musical chairs/hot potato combined where anyone looking to unload tickets will take what they can get.
Going again next month. Had bouchon last time. What’s an equally great restaurant or two? I live for top tier meals.
L’Atelier and Bouchon are my two picks. That said, haven’t been in five years, and there are probably a couple stuffier options but L’Atelier, at the counter, is probably my favorite dining experience anywhere.
