Dang. But tow brakes are awesome. And my next truck has to have a moon roof. Love the look. I'm going black but silver is 2nd.
Well I’m bringing the Tundra in for the 5,000 mile service today. I feel like this is a waste of my time. They dont even do an oil change at it either. Does everyone else do the 5,000 mile service?
I really really like my truck so I bring it into the Toyota dealership wherever I'm living whenever they tell me to. Might be a sheep but wanna keep this thing for 20 years
Just took delivery of this guy over the weekend. 22 AT4 with the turbo diesel. Hundred miles in and in love at this point.
I'm more impressed with that driveway than anything. Looks like a Tuscan villa in the background as well.
Got some letters in the mail about a recall on 2022 Tundras. Brought it in for the 5k service today. They told me the rear axle has been separating while people are driving down the road causing accidents and it is unsafe. Also there is a ECU /software glitch causing problems. They gonna be a few hours to fix all this stuff. Glad to get it fixed though.
Was gonna post in Apple thread, but any of you guys with an F150 have your apple carplay stop working? My phone will charge when it's plugged in but carplay isn't popping up.
Try and reset your stereo. I believe the process is holding down both the power button and the next track button for a couple seconds and it will restart. That usually fixes it for me.
Need to review this thread at some point. Taking delivery of my first truck since high school/college soon. F150 Lightning (Super Crew, 5.5’ box). Last truck was a ‘93 Chevy 2500 6.5 diesel single cab/long box, retired construction company truck. So far I’m deciding on a roll up bed cover, not sure if I want soft or hard roll. Not a fan of vinyl, but I do like the twill/fabric versions that I’ve seen. Might go aluminum roll up as well. It comes with a spray-in liner. Also got a stubby antenna because the whip antenna will likely hit my garage door. What else do you do to/get for a truck in 2022? This will be a daily driver with a car seat, dogs will ride in the cab, etc.
make sure you get running boards. My damn truck didn't come with them and I should've insisted on it. Automatic ones are baller.
I have a TruXedo Lo Pro cover and it's better than different soft roll up covers that my dad and friends have. Not sure their brands but it sits a lot lower and has been more reliable/durable.
Running boards can suck if you live where it snows. Extra shit to get your truck stuck on and to rust. Would say that's heavily height and use dependent.
Fixed running boards with lighting come standard on the trim level. 100% necessary for my wife. We test drove one without and it was basically a CrossFit rep to get in for her.
How do you like the material? I was looking at the XR15 or whatever the flush mount is called because it’s the twill.
Mine is a vinyl type material but igaf about that part. It's been super durable and barely any rain gets into the bed when it's covered even in like, a massive rainstorm. and that's just because the rubber on the bed cover by the cab doesn't provide a 100% waterproof seal to the bed (doubt any soft cover would) . Hasn't torn. It kicks ass overall, honestly. Would buy again.
I have a hard plastic tool box that sits under my bed cover to put luggage in if I drive a long ways with the family otherwise everything else just sits in the bed and if it rains things are 99+% fine. Something like this.
I’ve driven my 16 Tacoma for about 4 years now and still love it. It seems with the advent of newer trucks getting the best of the safety features, rookie truck drivers are driving them like sedans and squeezing into gaps in traffic solely because their lane change indicator turned off. Total disregard for their own stopping power or that of those around them. I’ve seen way too many trucks involved in collisions in the last few months and have had to test my brakes far too often to avoid hitting people that do that shit. Have you guys noticed people just getting blatantly worse at driving?
Definitely since the pandemic started. People just do not give any fucks about anything now and drive like there’s no tomorrow.
It had a naturally aspirated 5.8L V8 or a supercharged 5.4L V8 depending on the generation. You might be thinking of the Ram SRT-10 which came with the Viper V10.
Some lady in my apartment complex drives a big blue Ram and cannot park it for shit. It's hilarious seeing her make multiple attempts at parallel parking only to give up and circle the block for a pull-in spot
Definitely about to get running boards for my 2022 Tundra. A friend of mine recommended these: https://www.amp-research.com/powersteps I'm on hold with the local Toyota dealership to see what the deal is on whether Toyota has automatic running boards that they can install or whether I should go with the above referenced aftermarket ones.
Here are my various options. Which ones do yall like best? I can’t decide. I’m leaning towards just forking up the extra cash for automatic board. Toyota doesn’t have an official accessory auto running board. Most standard boards are like $500 and I’m guessing another $300-500 for labor. The auto boards from Amp are $1100 so twice the price.
2014. Has taken me on moves from WY to MA. MA to CA. CA to MI and MI to AZ. Really only ever gets driven on weekends except for moves
Finally got the camper out last weekend for the first trip. Tacoma pulled it great. Was lazy and got the Wireless Curt brake controller and it worked great. WDH + sway bars and it handled semi trucks passing us on the interstate.
Damn Amp doesn't have 2022 Tundra automatic boards yet , it is a new body style and thus the boards for them won't come out until 1st quarter 2023. I'm just going to wait.
The dude I spoke to who does installation of accessories for all sorts of trucks said that Amp pretty much has the patent and is the gold standard for auto running boards that most trucks come with from the factory so I have no clue what manufacturer Toyota was using for them for the 2022 Tundras that had them if it wasn't Amp. This has been a bit of a cluster trying to figure out. He told me that Toyota doesn't make running boards they use after market parts that just get branded Toyota and have emblem on them etc. I wonder who made the OEM parts in that video you posted. I'll have to watch the video and research it.
RJF-GUMP do you have the TRD package? It seems power running boards were an option, but not on the TRD models b/c he may affect off road? “Toyota restricted the combination of off-road package and power running boards to prevent the possibility of damage to these moving parts,” Kokes replied via email. “What he is seeing is accurate.” https://pickuptrucktalk.com/2022/06...d-off-road-package-with-power-running-boards/
No. I have the limited package. The reviews on Amp did mention that they hug the frame pretty well. One problem with standard running boards is that they can get damaged when going offroad. I don't go offroad for anything. I mostly have my truck for pulling my boat and it is nice to have 4x4 so I don't get stuck in the mud when I park in grass every now and then. The guy I spoke with did mention that the Amp boards are designed specifically out and down so that you don't just hop straight out of the truck to the ground. I guess he was saying a lot of people with fixed boards just bypass those when getting out of the truck and don't use them for getting out. He said the mechanics of that move from getting out of the truck to hopping onto the ground cause damage to your seat over time I guess from your ass preparing to hop out. He may be full of shit. I do know that I'm putting extra pressure on my seat getting into the truck because I basically have to jump into it even at 6'0 without running boards. And I'm surprised I haven't ripped a giant hole in the ass of my slacks doing this maneuver.
