I went with the Bak Flip cover. It folds back rather than rolling up or being a soft fabric I would tear. Its fairly solid and I see a ton of other trucks using it.

The truck came with a drop in liner which was plastic and since I was adding the cover, I didn't want to pull it out and do a spray in. The problem is if you put something flat in the bed on that plastic and drive around, whatever is back there will slide around. So I added a bed mat. Its a thick fabric mat that I dropped in and added some anchors into the plastic liner. It works great keeping things from sliding around as well as making it easier to keep the bed of the truck clean. I think this is the one I got (F150 as well) https://bedrug.com/product-detail/BMQ15SCD/bedmat-for-drop-in-15-ford-f-150-5ft7in-bed

Last thing I bought was some cheap storage organizers from Amazon. When I go grocery shopping, I have two kids with car seats in the back seat so there is limited room for groceries. I now use these two storage containers to hold all the groceries and again, limit things sliding around in those plastic bags. Also makes it much easier to bring the groceries in as they hold a decent amount.

One last suggestion I have for anyone driving a nicer truck/vehicle, is to add a dash cam. They are not hard to install, can be hard wired to the vehicle's fuse box, and are invaluable if you are ever in a wreck and the other party claims its your fault (when you may be innocent). The one I got has a battery that will detect a collision when the vehicle is off and record the impact. I would have loved to have this when someone side swiped my driver mirror and destroyed it.

Also for anyone who has a Ford, look into FORScan. Its fairly straightforward and easy want to do things like eliminate the horn if you get out of the truck with the key in your pocket, while its running. I also set it up to fold the mirrors in automatically when I lock the doors after turning the truck off.

No, you buy a little dongle you plug into the OBD2 connector and download the truck's settings. You make the changes you would like, and then re-upload the file back to the truck.

There are a ton of changes you can make which can't be made through the standard truck interface. For example, my wife drives an STX, and we updated hers to roll the front two windows down if you hold the unlock button the remote for 5 seconds. You can turn off the seat belt warnings, turn off the battery management (which turns off the auto start stop of the engine). I believe you can edit the way the truck's daytime headlights display and a couple other tweaks. I added the temp over the gauge on the dash over the oil temp as well i think.

Ended up with a Truxedo Pro X15 (super low, fabric model) since the dealer had it to put on before I arrived. Happy with it so far.

I gave in. I bought an F150. My 16 Lariat is at 233k so I needed a backup. I went back and forth looking for either a KR or Platinum. I went over everything. Test drove a Limited. Omg that seat is like heaven. But the color was butt ugly gray blue and the admiral blue and cream seats are just not going to last with me and my coffee addiction. But the Power boost was fun. And Id totally buy into it if I didn't drive so much. I'm worried the power boost would break down after warranty and I just can't see how it'll pan out.

I always wanted the Max Recline seat. But with the pandemic you can't get it anymore. Nor massage seats. Nor heated steering wheel. And with no idea when they'll be back. So the dealer happened to have a Platinum with 30k miles on it with Max Recline seats. I lay down in it for 5 seconds and knew I was in love. Sold. 65k. I planned on getting a new truck and blah blah blah. But wtf would I pay 15k more for a new truck with less features than this one. I'll have a blast with this one and if the features come back I'll grab a new one.

Sorry I had 3 hours sleep since last night.

I live in NY. I bounced around a dealership called Colonial Ford and their other satellite locations. I checked out the King Ranch interior at the one in CT (2 tone brown leather wasn't cutting it) The head truck guy at the sister dealership said he traded in his 21 Platinum a month or so earlier at the dealership closest to me. The one that I was dealing with. They messed something up in their computer so when I sat down with the salesman he had no record of it being on their lot. It was marked as something else (the internet people have it listed) anyways they pulled it up for me when I went back there immediately after CT and I said fuck it I'll take it.

I work a lot of ridiculous hours. So putting the seat back and closing my eyes for an hour is a dream. But you could only get Max Recline with a KR, P, or Limited. That's why I became obsessed with that stupid seat. Top it off Ford cut it from the 23's citing chop shortage. So essentially I'd be paying 80k for a truck that has less features than a used 21.

You might test the seats because in my lariat lightning that does not ‘have’ lay flat seats, the seats lay pretty much flat and they’re definitely the Lariat seats, not the platinum. YMMV.

I was just talking about the function of the seats. I was surprised when they laid all the way back after that was an advertised feature of the platinum specifically.

The time has has come to replace my 15 Sierra, I’ve done a ton of building/looking and I’m currently leaning towards a 23 Platinum Tundra. Anybody have one and have strong feelings one way or the other? I think RJF-GUMP had one, wasn’t sure if there was anyone else.

I love mine. I got mine in January of 2022 brand new. It’s a limited 4x4z Pulls my 23 foot key west bay reef with ease and I’ve never had an issue at the boat ramp pulling it out of the water. Twin turbo has good acceleration. Spacious interior. Love the huge screen. Love the cooled and heated seats. Infotainment is good enough, no complaints. All the safety features are nice. I get like 14 mpg or something close to that. Make sure you get running boards/bars mine didnt come with them. Don’t love the leather pattern but I got over that quickly. Haven’t had a single issue with it so far. Pretty much love driving and owning it besides the fact that I need to get stel up bars. There have been recalls and issues that Toyota wanted to tinker with at 5k and 10k checkups.

A rock hit my windshield back in November and it turned into a huge crack. $1900 to replace a tundra windshield via safelite . Had to be done in shop because they had to calibrate the camera which is integrated for safety features. I had no clue windshields were so expensive. $500 deductible on my insurance. Took over 2 hrs + one hr of driving.

Funny you mention this I came to this realization a while back with my commuter 2021 Camry. Couldn't believe the cost, to be honest I'm still running with it cracked, its at the very top of the windshield so out of my view and I'm a cheap bastard about certain things.

Anybody have any tires they really like on their truck?

It’s time to replace the OEM Good Year Wrangler Trail Runner AT tires on my AT4.

Was not impressed with the tread life on the OEM tires. They are basically worn out at 40,000 miles, and I’m thinking they should have had at least another 10,000 miles on them given that I don’t do anything too crazy with them.

Thinking I’m gonna go with the Vredestein Pinza AT right now. They have really good reviews on Tire Rack and aren’t stupid expensive. Plus they are snow rated (I’m in Michigan) and have a 70,000 mile warranty.

    https://m.tirerack.com/tires/vredestein-pinza-at

Last year I had mail go through the shoulder of one of my OEM tires and had to have it replaced, and the guy at the tire store recommended the BF Goodrich T/A KO2. But those are stupid expensive and more of a true off-road tire, and I don’t need all that.

did you like the Goodyears besides the life? Right out of school for about a year I worked for pretty good size distributor that no longer exists. There are plenty of model tires that would have an OEM version with no treadlife warranty, but then have an exact same model that came with one. They looked the same, but had different SKUs. Idk why the ones that came new on a dodge caravan and would be shot at 30k with proper rotation but we’d put the same non OEM model on a not new caravan and they’d last 60k and the records would show no rotations ever. Quick google shows those trail runners have a 50k treadlife warranty.

This is 13 year old experience, but Toyos always got the best customer feedback from their entry level to top model. I also would not recommend the KOs unless you off-road or just think they look great. They are awful on wet roads and super noisy

Is any all terrain or more aggressive tire going to make your vehicle ride worse? I had some Nittos put on my last truck and the ride became terrible. It could have been the level kit that was installed. Idk. But I'm afraid to put aggressive tires on my new truck and mess up the smooth ride.

so many people would come in driving a suburban or sierra that came stock with Michelin LS tires and want to put some crazy AT tire in a LT size and then be back in a week because “they weren’t smooth” or “too loud”

same thing for those people who drove a Hyundai or something with really nice stock tires, come in and buy some hard as a rock tire because they have a 80k warranty and complain they were rough

Still nothing compares to the people who read about general grabber tires in consumer reports or something and we couldn’t keep them in stock, but we would have trucks full of take offs. Those things fucking sucked

I had nitto ridge grapplers and when I got on the interstate the truck would pull in random directions. It felt like when you're on the interstate and it is super windy and you can feel the wind pulling/pushing your truck. It was god awful. Never again.

My factory tires were slick as fuck on wet roads, would activate traction control every single time I left a stop when the road was wet.
First week I had my KO's it was raining and I tried to spin the tires a few times from a stop and couldn't get em to spin.

They're also way quieter than my Goodyear AT tires that were on my last truck

They weren’t bad. Nothing special about them, but they ride well on the highway with no discernible road noise and have a bit of all-terrain capability. I never liked them in the snow very much (and they aren’t severe snow rated like the Pinza’s are anyway).

I just think I want something a bit better. The Vredestein Pinza’s are only like $150 more for an entire set, so I’m leaning that way. The Pinza’s specs are better across the board.
