To me it looked like Kellee wanted to say more. I believe she might have had a settlement with cbs for a nice amount of money. That’s why she was trying to correctly use her words not to jeopardize it. Just my two cents.
I agree with all of this. I think it's hilarious that the person who won is the only one who didn't go to see Sandra and Rob out of the final 8 or whatever. Goes to show how incredibly useless that entire aspect of the game was. A Janet/Tommy showdown would have been much better than the Dean/Tommy showdown. Noura being a complete wild card did more to hurt the game than help it in my opinion, at least entertainment wise. That whole speech she was giving when telling Lauren and Dean they were making fire was annoying as fuck. I'm not sure if it's overshadowed by the whole Dan thing, but I don't really recall anything all that interesting happening this season.
I am willing to give Kellee the benefit of the doubt in that situation. She had to talk through an extremely important and sensitive subject on stage in front of hundreds of people. All while knowing it was being aired on national TV. For the average person that is a huge task to get through and I doubt many people could do it effortlessly or without looking a bit nervous.
So instead of limiting gimmicks they are going balls deep with gimmicks in s40. Edge of Extinction is ok as long as they build on it from last time. Give the players there more to do. Also it lets us watch the good players for longer. Fire Tokens are some sort of currency to use to buy advantages. I actually prefer this over finding advantages all over the place because it allows for more strategy and control vs just stumbling on a coconut idol. A lot of this depends on execution but taking most of the luck factor out of games is typically good. Even though we're not getting an old school season I'm optimistic about this one after the s39 shitshow
I agree that they should have stepped up and taken care of it but they are just contestants on a game show. They should have never been put in the position to act as the human resource department for the tribe. CBS was the one responsible for removing Dan and those two got heat for not voting him out and lying when they are just trying to play Survivor. I'm not saying I agree with them but inappropriate touching should have never been part of game play to begin with. CBS is the fuck up. They kept Dan in the game for weeks, making Kellee sit at tribal and listen to him continue to play. It couldn't have been handled worse IMO.
Started listening to Survivor Specialists podcast this year. It's pretty cool during the season. They're pretty funny. They released an interview w Jamal today. About 20 min in so far. Pretty interesting to hear his version of events. Sounds like it's pretty incredible what they can edit and change the narrative of what really happened. Pretty interesting listen so far.
Missy is on the pod now. She’s just as obnoxious and a cocky asshole off the show as she was on the show. also has commented how the edits can really tell a different story.
Dang. Missed this the first time. Don’t remember the specifics but said they show interactions out of order and also show people reacting to things where they were reacting to something completely different.
Finally caught up with this season. I know this has been beaten to death. Would be real interesting to see or hear the producer's line of thinking. I mean they let a guy stay, who on camera and thru the girls admittance touched them. What did they expect would happen when this aired, especially with in this atmosphere. The two girls need to be shit on for letting Janet stand up for them and then hanging her out to dry. I watch the MTV Challenge and some of the cast on there have talked about how the editing completely misconstrues or changes the perception of what actually happens. Noura is a psycho was fun watching people try to manage her Dean was a bad player until the last 1/3 of the show Janet really fucked up by showing Tommy the Idol. She needs to be playing for herself at that point like Dean did at the end. Karishma was terrible With that said looking forward to 40.
I don't understand why you introduce something entirely new like fire tokens to the game this season. I'm fine with mixing things up and experimenting with the format but save it for a normal game of survivor with new contestants. You've got 20 former winners, just let them battle it out in a normal game. No need to get cute
Right now the best twist would be to get rid of all idols and advantages, and don't tell them about it.
Has anyone found a hidden idol yet? I know Sandra cashed in her token for one. But have we seen a hidden one yet?
Holy crap, for someone who has played and won the game before that was absolutely brutal gameplay. Like a paranoid rookie.
So excited for this season... Was traveling the last week & just got caught up. Never understand why anyone keeps Sandra around. She's useless in challenges & HUGE threat in the social game / strategy. Just vote her the fuck off
Keeping the big targets (Rob, Sandra, Parvati and Tony) around until merge is probably a good strategy. That’s 4 people to use as shields post-merge and would get the remaining players into ~top 7 or 8.
Great strategy on the vote but I kinda get annoyed when they spend the last 1/3 of the show editing purely to blindside the audience.
Props to Michelle. Instead of voting for Adam, because she’s pissed at him she made the right move. She out flanked Boston Rob. . Adam is over playing. That tribe is a lot of fun. I still don’t understand why they don’t vote out Rob but whatever.
Was just discussing this with Majic44 I don't get it either. It makes no sense to me to vote Ethan instead of Rob.
The only explanation I can think of is that they want to keep them around for the merge. Having Rob, Parvarti and Sandra theoretically makes them 3 easy votes once they merge. Think Jeremy has talked about it a little and mentioning the importance of having "shields" in front of him. There are alot of problems with this approach, biggest being Rob and Sandra are the 2 best Survivor players ever. Leaving 2 players around with their ability is bad for everyone.
They were probably worried about Rob having gotten an idol/advantage from Amber on EoE. Jeremy knew that they could be given one after Natalie sent him his. It also let them weaken the old school alliance and keep Rob/Parv for later votes. They were also able to show Adam that telling Rob was a bad move by not including him in the vote. Overall, I think it was a great play by Michelle and Jeremy.
Week late but Someone on Reddit was at Jeremy's watch party and said he wanted to work with Rob and Michelle wanted to work with Parv, so they voted Ethan. Lol @" you guys have so much firewood."
The powers-that-be will do everything they can to get a Rob and Amber return from EoE. Calling it now.
4 people vote for her. 1 of them tips her off and gives her an idol to keep her around. naaaaaa, I want to stick with the other 3 who are trying to get rid of me. I have no idea who that woman is or how she won her season but what an awful decision.
Only thing I can think of is that she didn't trust Sandra and thought that it was a trick to get rid of her or Jeremy and get her tokens with a split vote since the idol had to be used this tribal. In her mind, she plays both, keeps one token, surprises Sandra by having two idols because she thinks Sandra is trying to trick her. Except Sandra was being honest and that's why she said "I feel sick" hahahahaha
I mean taking down the queen of Survivor like that is a massive move. She may have misplayed the one idol but she completely controlled the vote and decided who went home 100%.
I think Denise was just worried Sandra might throw a random vote towards Jeremy and it end in a tie. Plus she had to be sure that Sandra's idol was legit.
The old-school players got absolutely massacred. Honestly makes me wonder if there was some kind of agreement made pre game between a lot of the newer players. The game has certainly evolved and gameplay has gotten better but it was incredibly lopsided.
Dalton Ross does a really good recap writeup every week and he talked about this: "Is it because the newer players were simply more used to the speed of the current game? Is it due to the fact that the older, more revered contestants were seen as the bigger targets? Or were the new schoolers just better at creating pre-game alliances than the OGs? The truth is probably a combination of all three of those things" I actually think most of the old-school players did a decent job with the "speed of the game, although some did struggle. The second 2 he mentions seemed to me to be the biggest reasons. Probst also said in his weekly interview he thinks that they all had big targets on their backs because of their Survivor celebrity status. Almost all of the new-age players grew up watching all of these old-school players, so it was probably a cool experience to compete with them and take them out.
I tend to think it’s the latter as well. I’m bummed Sandra just quit before confronting Rob about not telling her about this season.
they talked about this too. Basically Sandra knew there was no way she would ever win any type of challenge and wanted nothing to do with living on extinction. It didn't air but I guess at the first tribal council she went on a long rant about how terrible Edge of Extinction and how she hates it. Not surprising she would leave right away. She does really seem to be bothered by the fact that Rob never said anything. She even brought it up recently at the premier event.
I know Sandra was like fuck it, Im not doing the extinction shit. Just wanted that confrontation w Rob before she bolted. Maybe since she knew she was leaving, it wasnt worth it.
