Daughter got her first infection and the entire family (in laws are our daycare provider, I was at work, wife is training in Chicago) freaked out today. Turns out she has a UTI. I'm dreading tonight and the next few nights that she won't sleep. Anyone have to deal with this before or am I a bad parent? (At least I know I'm not the worst parent. Driving back to work from the urgent care facility I saw an older woman with smoking an E cig blowing. Huge pull and blow. Then I saw her 2 kids in the back seat.)
Having a daughter: where you learn more about the vagina then you ever ever ever ever ever ever ever wanted.
My wife went out of town for work on Wednesday. That night my son woke up a couple times in the middle of the night and his breathing seemed a little weird so I set up a dr. appt right away on Thursday morning. They checked him out and gave him a nebulizer to open the airway. The doctor wasn't satisfied so they did a second nebulizer. The doctor came back after the second one told me, "I need you to take him the ER at Children's Hospital immediately. I don't care if you think you forgot something or need something from home, go there immediately with no stops along the way." It scared the ever living shit out of me. I was probably going 75-80 mph weaving through traffic while screaming my son's name whenever I saw him close his eyes so I could see if he was just falling asleep or no longer breathing. They gave him 3 more nebulizer treatments, chest x-rays, and we sat around for a long time. Fortunately he checked out ok. They called it Reactive Airway Disease which is his body reacting to a virus by tightening the airway. It is asthma-like symptoms but apparently a lot more kids under 2 or 3 have this but never develop asthma and since we don't have asthma in either of our families he is most likely to outgrow it. What an exhausting day though.
A few years ago my 16 year old cousin had cancer. At the time I felt sympathy for my aunt. I feel so much worse for her now that I have a son and have a better understanding of the parent/son relationship than when I had just been on one side of that.
I almost took my 3 year old to the ER tonight because he randomly pointed to the left side of his stomach and told me it hurt. Then i realized the appendix is on the right side, and he'd just banged himself on a cupboard handle. I'm the voice of reason between me and my wife, but she doesn't know everything freaks me out, too.
I walk in the door after work today and my wife says, "Do you want a beer or some bourbon? You should probably go for both because I'm pregnant." She's been off birth control since June 1st. This is the second time it's essentially happened immediately. Yay for easy conception but fuck fuck fuck fuck.
Between you, me and the lamppost, we're due February 15. To early to tell anybody but the dad thread. Like way way too early. But it explains why my wife has been so awful this week.
Congrats? She found out today, told me, and we each told our mothers. Other than that, 12 more weeks until it become Facebook official.
We were trying, so It's good news. We had the boy on the first try, got pregnant on the first try and lost it at 6 weeks the second time, and have been trying again for a few months. I'm mainly glad I don't have to have procreation sex next month.
Took my daughter to Finding Dory today, which was her first time going to a movie. She's 2 and a half and as we are sitting there she looks at me and shouts at the top of her lungs. "Dad, that's a HUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEEEE TV" making a big wide move with her arms. The guys sitting behind me and the lady sitting next to us just lost it when she said it. I lol'd. Pretty cute movie and I liked it better than Finding Nemo.
Don't worry DrTomOsbourne, as much as i've wanted a boy (still do), girls are awesome. On another note, little one woke up with pink eye this morning, ugh.....glad this happened now and not when we go on vacation in a couple weeks.
My daughter absolutely loves the octonauts. "Honey what do you want for lunch?" "A giant siphonophore. Giant siphonophores live in deeper water, dad."
My baby has been at Miss TN pageant since Mon. She was given crown for cutest baby (unofficial competition, directors choice, weeklong achievement award deal). Being a dad hit me last night. 10 months old. Spoiler
My plans for today: Boozy brunch, float in the pool with beers, nap, play outside (hit baseballs, shoot hoops), grill steaks, dessert from our favorite bakery, and not change a single diaper.
My son has this. It comes up every couple months and is awful. We almost took him to the ER at 11:30 pm a week ago. He's had it for a couple years and it's such a bitch. Hope he outgrows it by Kindergarten.
Woke up early, went with wife to get bagels. Came home to a few new pairs of shorts to fit my increasingly fat ass. Having a late Father's Day lunch with my parents and brother, who has a newborn. Heading to the airport to pick up my oldest daughter flying home from college for the summer and then we're all going out for a steak. Awesome day!
Be advised, fam: Took the family to see Finding Dory on Friday night. Listed start time was 7 p.m. That motherfucker didn't actually start until SEVEN TWENTY-SIX.
My son was born on Flag Day last week. Last night his stomach was in knots and his 2 year old sister woke up 3 times..... No sleep til Brooklyn.
Ugh I'm under two weeks out from boy #2. Worried about the two year old regressing more than the new born tbh.
Woke up early this AM and patched some flooring in the entry way prepping for the flooring I'm putting down later today. Got done and my daughter brings me a homemade card and a huge jug if honey roasted peanuts which are my favorite and a round of golf for 2 at my favorite course. Also going to watch the open. Great Father's day ahead!
Our 4 month old was up at 6am but went bank to sleep until 9am so we got to sleep in. Went for a 3 mile run this morning and now watching the Rays game eating a PB&J and a big ass glass of milk.
Kids/wife got me coffee and bagels this morning. Hit the gym right after for a nice team WOD. Taking a shit right now and hitting the beach in an hour. Got tonight. Notbadobamagif
My daughter turned 3 today. Looking back at old pictures made me realize how dusty my Facebook and phone are.
3rd but 1st boy. Very excited. Don't know what to do with a boy though, got so comfortable with my raising my girls.
My girls turned 3 june 1st. They started swim lessons today and did awesome. Holding their breath. Blowing bubbles. All that stuff. They really enjoy being in the water.
Enjoy your feels. Gettin' dusty in here and I don't even have a kid yet. This Man’s Tattoo Of His Son’s Cancer Scar Is Going Viral For The Best Reason SHARE Oliver McAteer in SOCIAL NEWS Jun 21, 201612:02pm When life gave this kid lemons, his dad knew exactly what to do. Having a little girl in late November. Heavenly father, must I be punished for my past sinful ways? But in all honesty i'm really excited.
We have most of the same crowd in this thread as the homeowner's thread but I'm going to cross-post over there as well... I finished the touch ups on the stripes for the accent wall in my new baby's room. Wife wanted me to put together the crib...no problem. Pull out all the supplied pieces and notice two of them are labeled "L". Get to the instructions and notice I'm supposed to use "K" at some point but none was labeled as K. I didn't want to be that person that automatically assumes the instructions are incorrect but 2 hours later I finally realized they were. What a pain in the ass. Its all very obvious now but at the time I was so confused. Final product:
Finally picked out the paint color and picked up the crib today for Brewer's room. Now just have to actually paint and out the crib together. Same style as yours
Sweet and hilarious at the same time. Father and daughter both have Tourette's syndrome. He has it worse than her, but they are on the same cycle, meaning that when he has a bad day, she has one, too. This is how they deal with it.
Any of you dealt with the "4 month sleep regression" finally had the little one on a decent sleep pattern but it's all gone to hell the last 5 days
You ain't kidding. We had two firsts this week. On Saturday he got his first battle wound when he fell and got some major carpet burn on his nose at the hotel. On Sunday at my parents he took his first steps by himself.
That's awesome! Mine is not quite there yet with walking on her own, she can stand by herself for a few seconds, but doesn't quite like that. We leave for the beach this weekend and its probably a good thing she isn't walking yet.
I would imagine everybody in this thread that has a kid older than 4 months. That sounds terrible. I think ours was only a couple weeks to a month. Maybe I'm just sugar coating it though.
