That's insane that the highest rainfall amount is Calhoun which is an hour and a half northwest of Atlanta. I live about 30 minutes from there and it rained all night but never would have guessed we got more rain than the panhandle or south GA.
Looks like that is on Thomas drive just east of schooners. Looked like that huddle house/newbys on the curve when he panned to the right. So like block or so west of venture out. I hope patches pub is ok
My folks are trying to go back today apparently. Not sure if it’s a good idea or not but I understand wanting to check on the house.
Meteorologists are going to get people killed if they keep crying wolf and building up these bullshit, nothing, rainstorms into apocalyptic events.
Wouldn’t surprise me there’s not much between the gulf and all the buildings there. Maybe 100 yards. Not many if any natural barriers to slow down water either
We got a preliminary report last night that our street fared reasonably well. No specifics but we should have someone checking in on our house today.
Looks staged to me. No other debris flying and then a 2x4 flies through and Cantore is able to see it well in advance and move despite the “sand being relentless”
Ale tweets at meteorologists whining about dancing with the Stars being interrupted while there's an f5 tornado wrecking havoc 100mi away
:notsureifserious: I don't think producers are gonna chunk a solid object into 100 mph wind at their most famous meteorologist just to get a few tweets about it.
Any reason you think anyone cares about the transformer across the street from you blowing? I've never understood why folks try to be part of a hurricane. "Man, these 25 mph winds are really blowing the cars around." "Oh no, I lost my power." Most ITT are interested to see how the panhandle fared. If I am being a dick, sorry. Hope you get your power back.
If he got hit by that thing he would sue the ever living shit out of TWC (if he didn't get killed) and they'd have to explain to the entire world that they stage this bs during storms. I just don't see it. I can buy that they exaggerate how hard the wind is blowing by acting like they're getting knocked over or film in the worst location when the rest of the area looks fine, but throwing shit into 100 mph winds at the only weatherman the entire country knows? As if Cantore would allow that to happen.
Sure they would. They have a history of faking stuff and that 2x4 was never hiting him even if he didn’t move and looked like it was lobbed in there. Obviously he would know it was coming prior to segment. Also how does the camera which is facing the weatherman not stay on him when he moves left instead moving the camera to the right to catch the lumber?
I get that some of the local reporters over exaggerate winds on camera but Cantore is a pro who loves weather. He’s knows the wind is the show and he doesn’t need to put on a performance. Also that 2x4 was fucking hurling and unless they have a producer who used to throw javelin that was real and really dangerous.
People are forgetting that after the near miss of the 2 x 4, Cantorre goes and swaps his hat for a batting helmet.
That’s awful but for her to say shes never seen anything like this means she probably hasn’t covered hurricanes before.
I’m curious as to why people haven’t learned that Hurricanes are bad and do damage after reading the last page and a half
