Clay Travis is the type of guy who hasn't yet figured out that Fight Club and Starship Troopers are satire.
fight club is? i thought it was sincerely whining about how consumerism stomps on masculinity or something i still like it but it's pretty melodramatic
I love Fight Club as a movie. It rules. I bought the DVD as a high schooler and watched it 6-7 times as a teenager through college with other idiots. I can't imagine David Fincher not subverting Chuck Palahniuk.
Remember when Clay Travis sabotaged the hiring of Greg Schiano and the Vols lost at home to Georgia State and BYU? That’s comedy.
I catch it every evening on my drive home. I get that it's FS1's answer to the betting show on ESPN. But, Clay Travis is an insufferable prick.
So just discovered this thread, what’s the reason for all the Clay hate? Generally like the guy, he can be kind of douchy and hyperbolic but that’s what these talking heads do. Not everyone can be Stuart Scott/Scott Van Pelt. Assuming that’s a hot take in here
But the Earl Campbell stuff as an example...does anyone really disagree about the point itself? Shoe on other foot and so on Am sure this has been discussed ad nauseum in here, just curious
The “Earl Campbell stuff” is a preposterous, bad faith argument that ignores the racial history of this country. Generalizations of whites being better at something will always be more offensive than the inverse because those assumptions were used for millennia to justify genocide and subjugation. It’s not newsworthy that people react differently in one case over another, and feigning outrage over inequity is at best intellectually dishonest and at worst white supremacy. That example is right out of his playbook. He’s not an idiot, he knows what he’s doing, and he’s using race-baiting to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
That and Earl Campbell probably legit has some CTE from the insane abuse he took with his running style, probably not going to get upset at him for speaking his mind.
