I would post this normally but not trying to change opinions for people who haven't seen it all Spoiler season 1, fucking awesome. This show has amazing potential. Beginning of season 2, still intrigued but wtf is going on. End of season 2, just give me a decent conclusion because I don't have a fucking clue what's going on. Pretty discouraged at this point tbh.
Really? I have such clarity at this point and I fully see how they can bring this home in one more season.
I have the clarity of an 18 yo who’s had his first bad trip but was able to bring it all in and coast to the sunrise
The chart that I posted really helped me keep things in focus when I watched season 2. Every time I saw someone in the early episodes I would look at the chart and remind myself how they were related. It fully engraved all the connections in my brain.
Love the show but this part is feeling a little jump the shark-ish to me. Not sure how I feel about it.
Binged both seasons over the last two weeks. Terrible way to watch because I didn’t pay attention the whole time. No fucking idea wtf is going on, but still enjoying it
Just decided to plow ahead and finish season 2 last night and ended up reading articles until way too late. As others have said, the Charlotte/Elisabeth reveal is bonkers. That said, pretty thrilled they’re stopping at 3 seasons, not sure how much more complication I can handle...
Talked the GF into watching this before the final season starts in June. Once she realized it wasn’t a horror show she’s into it
Is that confirmed? I was worried they didn't finish production before the shit in the fan across the world.
Nah nothing confirmed just going off of the date that whatever happened happened similar to season 2 release. TBH I kinda assumed they may have filmed all 3 seasons or at least some of them at the same time...
Pretty sure this won’t be getting delayed because of the virus so it should be back in a couple months.
Hell of a start. Had to adjust the English voiceover default setting but the audio in the show is outstanding.
Have heard they both will get the job done but put me down for German with subtitles. Feel like it actually helps set the tone for the entire show. Can't wait for them to put out a release date cause I am 100% going to need to do at least last season rewatch.
Watching it in English was brutal. Made it 5 minutes before the wife and I switched to subtitles. Would not go back.
Yeah I think the subs distracted me from the bad dubs. Started in German with English subs and the translation was too distracting for me. I’m not fluent in German but I had 7 years and worked for a German company for many years. In no way shape or form am I fluent enough to watch it straight up but I’d catch words and be like wtf?
Just seems like the natural German voices sort of add to the atmosphere. I’m sure it’s fine either way though.
The English dubs are distracting imo. Watched like the first half of season 1 with those, and wound up going back and watching them in German. So much better
My wife actually binged it while on maternity leave before I knew anything about it. Saw it one day in the recently watched list and asked her if it was any good which she said it was. Think I watched like 2 episodes dubbed, didn't like it at all and stopped watching. Decided to give it another shot later on with subtitles and that's when I feel in love.
My wife did the same but not on maternity and she was raving about it and I was being a bitter dick and not paying her any attention, because I didn’t want to give her credit. She was right.
Five episodes in and the show is great so far. Reminds me of The Outsider crossed with a much darker Stranger Things.
Dark is a top 5 show for me. The Outsider was a waste of time. I can see the comparison when only 5 episodes deep, but once you finish it there is no comparison.
The Outsider started strong and then fizzled. I'm six episodes in and so far Dark has gotten better with each episode. Having a little trouble piecing all the family tree shit together, but it's all starting to make sense I think.
Outsider wound up finishing very weakly. Still love Stranger Things but Dark definitely has more of an emotional punch.
There are charts on the web that are very helpful, but spoilers involved. I would strongly suggest using the charts for season 2, but again there are some major spoilers that may bother you. They didn't negatively impact my experience. In fact the chart really helped me keep focus on what was going on and what each of the connections were as it became more complex. Seeing it in visual form really cements the connections in your brain.
In the episode I just watched Ulrich went to the hotel and was talking to Greta about how she told the cops he raped Katharina when they were younger. I was confused as fuck for a bit because I could have sworn weirdly obsessed Hannah was the one who did that. But then Greta said that she wasn't the one who did it and I felt a little better about my understanding of things.
Good luck keeping everything straight, it’s part of the fun though. Also, I got the Stranger Things vibe first few episodes too, but that goes away with more episodes imo.
Just got to the part where 2019ish Jonas was at the beach with all his pals and traveler/neck wound Jonas then kinda forced himself into the picture and took his spot. Same episode where his pre-suicide dad surfaced again at the beginning and things seem to be leading up to a pool party at Ulrich’s which is destined to get pretty awkward. Older Ulrich in the asylum and his reacting to the photo of Mikkel — and then abducting him — has been one of the season’s more memorable moments. Same goes for Claudia traveling to 2019ish and scoping out her daughter’s home from afar only to find that she’s dying of cancer. I had this feeling that Hannah was going to end up fucking her adult son when he showed up at the house....even after she found out who he was. Wouldn’t put it past her. Season has been great so far. Gotta finish the one I’m in now and then I believe there’s two more episodes to go.
Noah's english dub is comical. He's a great villain and his German voice is nightmarish. I'm glad you watched it the correct way.
GF loved the show as well when I got her to binge it. Says ulrich-hannah is the first time she's heard German actually sound romantic and she's all about some foreign/period pieces. Every prediction she tried to make was wrong and it was great hearing them along the way knowing what actually happens. I did have to play family-tree guide for most of it.
