He read Crippled America and thought it was profound...and even better, thought Donald Trump wrote a book
It’s almost like people saw exactly what was coming almost 4 years ago but guys like Stagger Lee are dipshits
Who could have known that trump would be the same lying narcissistic crook he had been for the first 70 years of his life after being elected?

I believed him when he said he was going to be the first person to profit off of running for President Not that he was the first but that he was going to attempt to do it.
i believed him when he said he loves the poorly educated because he really does love the braindead idiots that support him. i give that a "100% truthful" rating

What about voting for Congresspersons, Senators specifically, who believe the Text of the Constitution is paramount? Particularly those who value its sections outlining Impeachment and Removal. It seems like you would be in favor of impeachment & Removal of Donald Trump today given the text’s plain meaning.
100%. I expect anyone who gives an oath of office to uphold the constitution to do so. We have no rule of law otherwise. Haven’t kept up with the allegations, but if the evidence shows he offered foreign aid in exchange for personal favors, like investigating a political opponent, then I think the Senate should convict and remove. I see that falling within the meaning of “high crimes and misdemeanors” as understood at ratification
SUPER WEIRD how guys who voted for Trump all of a sudden “aren’t paying close attention” to these details. Hard to explain
Or I got 3 closings in the next 10 days, a sick kid at home, and an AC that just went out. Didn’t vote for trump either. Not sure why that keeps getting brought up. But whatever helps lube your mob circle jerk
for the people who haven't had time to read up on the details the president requested that a foreign government dig up harmful information on the guy who is currently the frontrunner (however weak his poll numbers may be) to be the president's opponent in the 2020 election also the president withheld aid to that country which had been approved by congress prior to making the request
The president using his personal lawyer as a de facto diplomat might actually be the biggest scandal to the political science dorks but what do they know really
the din of corruption has long been enough to impeach but i'm glad nancy pelosi finally got her smoking pistol on 5th avenue or whatever
The first paragraph is bad, but not enough to impeach imo. I would vote to impeach if the evidence established the aid was withheld/paid to strike a deal for the investigation.
There is something of a wall between the president's actual jobs as the executive and commander-in-chief, and his political ambitions... or at least there is supposed to be. I'm not a lawyer so lawyers can talk about that stuff, but at the very least these are the norms. I'm curious what your standard for impeachment would be if requesting that a foreign government interfere in our elections is not enough to impeach. Maybe he can get Mike Pompeo to speak at his next campaign rally?
The standard is treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. This obviously isn’t treason or bribery, so the analysis is over the intentionally vague HC&M. There is a lot written on this, but not something I’ve really looked at in at least 10 years. I could be swayed that the first paragraph of your post could be enough, but it’s not going to happen with me typing this on my phone while at a red light.
The good news is that there isn’t a reasonable person out there who could possibly look at the conversation, in the context of the power dynamic between the two individuals and two countries, and in light of Trump withholding military aid to Ukraine, and not see Trump as bribing or extorting a foreign leader for personal gain.
Treason and bribery don't account for Nixon's inevitable impeachment, though. I'm not sure how scholars describe it but essentially it seems like it was using the power of the presidency to hurt his political opponents
If using your executive power as leverege to coerce a foreign government into influencing an American election isn't impeachable then it should be
Also as a side note on Nixon, I learned from that Slow Burn podcast that Nixon's cronies called potential Muskie voters during the New Hampshire primary (New Hampshire iirc) before the 72 election to say that Muskie was basically promising reparations to black people as a way to scare potential Muskie voters away because Nixon saw Muskie as the biggest threat in that field that might be my favorite Nixon anecdote
