I was picking up some tequila this week and browsed the beer section. Saw a Bell's Double Two Hearted Ale. Had to grab it since I've always loved the original. Is this a new offering from Bell's? This also lead me to wonder about Bell's This One Goes to 11 and Black Note Stout. I recall trying those in 2012/2013, but never seeing them again. Are they still being produced? Thanks.
I believe This One Goes to 11 was a one time release(for their 11th anniversary maybe?). Black Note was a once a year release(basically their KBS) and a big time whale for a long time. No idea if they still make it.
Did some quick googling and it looks like 11 first came out in 2012 then again last year. Black Note is a little harder to figure out. Guess I just got lucky back in 2012. Moved to Tampa, across the street from a World of Beer. Became good friends with the GM and she hooked it up when anything special came in.
I think double two hearted came out maybe a year ago? Maybe more recently. Hasn't been out terribly long. Had it for the first time a couple weeks ago, pretty good.
The two best breweries in Seattle (imo), Cloudburst and Holy Mountain, collaborate every year for a big IPA during fresh hop season. It's always called Wet Wired, and it's absolutely fucking phenomenal. Yankees-Rays, NBA Finals, infused joint, fucking CHEERS gents
This year’s version is an amalgamation of years past, and the first one brewed at CB -it’s 6.8% abv, a base of 2row & Pils, with little bit of wheat & oats as well, A30 Corporate yeast, AND 26#/BBL OF SOAKING WET MOSAICS.
I've done a few sober months over the years, how ya feel? That first beer after the month is better than a handful of my sexual encounters
For now I’m in New Braunfels. My parents retired down here and they need help due to old people medical issues and my mom having a bad terminal illness. Looking to get my own place in Austin by spring at the latest.
Sorry to hear that about the folks and that's really cool that you are there for them. Respect the hell out of the decision to move close to them. There are a lot of TMBers in the Austin area and I am sure they would be down to meet up point you in the right direction for beers and areas to check out.
Feels good and I think I’m gonna go back to not drinking for awhile again. I had some issues with using binge drinking to cope with mental health issues and plus I’m in the best shape of my life right now and really happy with it. But still that beer after over a month sober felt great
jorge coined the term "Troutslam" for Two Hearted back when Hopslam was $20 a sixer 10 years ago and sold out when it hit the shelves even in a college town. The Bell's nostalgia hit hard for me today; picked up an Expedition Stout and some new IPA. So this walk down memory lane is well-timed.
Had to have a pour of Jan Session while picking up provisions for the next week or 2. False Idol completes the DFW hazy trifecta that includes Turning Point & Celestial. It is a formidable tripod. They have a fantastic crispy boy available currently as well, Crispy By Nature, German style Pils.
