11.1% and 14%. Had a local Red across the street before this. All been good so far today. Did have a few from Penn Brewery yesterday and I wouldn’t get those again.
Ya I was trying to be polite about Penn Brewery haha. Also had Troegs Perpetual IPA that I enjoyed. Grist House looks cool.
I had Fat Heads at the Great Taste of the Midwest and was really impressed. They have a spot not far from downtown Pittsburgh https://maps.app.goo.gl/z9xGDw83pE3kPbDEA
Don't think we will make it over there but at Coop De Ville now and they have Fat Head Head Hunter IPA on tap. Good stuff.
I'm going to Black Stack with a friend today. About 3/4 of the beer I consume at this point is Black Stack but this will be my first pilgrimage to the brewery.
I got two 4 packs for $24 each. It’s good but $2-4 more than decent/similar locals. With that being said, a couple bucks is nothing for the convenient novelty.
Just picked up two 6packs for $16 Elysian Brewing Contact Haze They are tasty. Can't recall the last time I bought a 6pack for 8 bucks
At Eagle Park in MKE for their Joint Beer Fest. I think I said this iit last year and I'll say it again this year. It's the only beer fest I've ever been to that has been worth it
In Wisconsin you go to those and they are packed with people ready to get sloppy drunk in the middle of the day and make poor decisions.
I've been to ones here that have turned into shit shows but Eagle Park really goes all out to make it great. I think tickets were $100 and it's all one off collabs that you'll never get again. 3 bands, a DJ, endless beer, and a great food buffet. The food is the most underrated part of that list too.
Sorry for what might seem like a dumb question but I picked up a beer and just noticed it’s a little over 11% abv. I don’t drink as much as I used to so I was wondering if there is an accepted rule of thumb to convert a beer of the strength to a regular one? Like say I want to just drink 6-8 beers how many should I count that one as? IDK if that makes sense and I generally can limit my intake more when I have a set number of drinks I say I’ll have. Thank you
Depends what you consider “regular.” If it’s like 5.5% it’s the equivalent of drinking two of those over the same timespan. If it’s higher than it’ll be less. Personally I just count it as one regardless of ABV. Not a big deal if I’m not driving.
The math is 5% 12 oz is 1 beer (or very close to that). So… 11% is just over two beers in 12oz. 16 oz is 3 basically. you can multiply oz by abv and divide by 60 for a serving. So with the problem above, if it’s 11% x 16oz = 176. 176/60 is nearly 3
Dallas bros, tell me about Deep Ellum Brewing. Company I work for owns NoCoast Beer Co who just hired their head brewer to be their new head brewer.
Not what I wanted to hear. Sounds like he’ll fit right in at NoCoast. Was reading that he worked at Dogfish Head for awhile and got excited. Damn.
He might be very talented but Deep Ellum model is to crank out the same beers and let them sit on shelves, in kegs, around town.
Luckily this brewery does a lot of one offs but they do like having their 4 “flagships” that don’t sell sit around on shelves and in kegs.
Stopped to pick up some beer and had a pour of the 14.2% imperial stout on tap. Car said it was 120 when I was leaving. Always #stoutszn
For some reason my photos from my phone no longer appear, but it is always stout season Edit: Guess I have to copy the link it makes when I upload
