i made a little firepit in my living room to give the home a rustic/outdoorsy feel tv mounted in the pantry obviously
Has anyone ever seen those fireplace tv stands where you put your tv on TOP of the fireplace? How dare they make those tv stands!
The Mantel Mount handles below the television change colors and glow orange if the temperature gets hot enough to damage the television. Big fan of that feature.
I just read a study that determined people who are vehemently opposed to mounting a tv over a fireplace are 97% more likely to get poop on their hand while wiping than those who aren’t. Fascinating stuff! Sorry I can’t post the article, it’s behind a paywall.
It’s ok. The center of the fireplace is positioned at eye height while seated so it would be very noticeable if it started to roll out.
What did you end up with here? Wife saw a bobcat in the backyard and now wants to illuminate the backyard. Was thinking about some fence mounted solar lights every 20 ft or so since I get good sunlight, but I wasn't sure if those provided enough coverage
Spent the last week prepping the house for photographer for listing which yesterday/today meant shoving shit in closets, garage, etc. Now that that is over I get to spend the next week actually dealing with all that shit for open house/showings.
I mowed last weekend after a couple of cooler weeks (I normally have to mow every week during summer) and its already looking ready for another cut
Anyone good at scribe trim or moldings? I am trying lay my last row of batu decking down and i want it to be tight to the house. Issue is that my foundation is pretty wavy. tips?
Best I can tell you is how I did stuff like that in college when was learning. We would lay the board up against it before nailing the second board in, then use a scribe to run along the wall and mark the board. Then we would cut it with a jig or band saw. Depending on the situation it might take a few trims to get it right
Both closings went off without a hitch yesterday. Our seller provided us with a list of quirks about our new house which I think was nice. Both of our movers come today and load up our stuff. It’s staying on the trucks overnight and then we each move in to our respective new houses in the morning. We got paid well over asking and we paid market rate. We’re going to be back in the area of Birmingham my wife wants. Major win for team IV
Also Barves2125 was my mortgage guy, I don’t know how much information he wants to share with the board but I can’t talk him up enough, the process of getting a loan was insanely easy compared to my past experiences
I don’t know how detailed you want to get but my best guess would be using a compass like this video.
Found a much better house and close next Friday. Just put our house on the market today, hoping for some bites this weekend. I’m never moving again bc this shit suuuuucccckkkkksss
It's a tricky balance. I want to know if anything is back there, but I also don't want it to be so bright that it wakes me up and gives me the willies
Just finished moving my now former neighbor helped me take down two fixtures, probably the thing I’ll miss the most at least Barves2125 blew him
This, or: if the second to last course is already secured, measure at every joist, transfer to final material, and connect the dots. Method would depend on existing conditions, planned perimeter trim, tools on hand. Good scribing results take forethought and patience. For detailed work (working to rock, for instance) you need a jigsaw, coping saw, die grinder. For gentler shapes, I often freehand the work on a table saw (be careful). Pro tip- if you use a table saw (I said be careful) without the fence, set it for a 5 degree angle where the long point is on top of the work (your marks). That way, you can make the fine adjustments with a jack plane. Hierarchy of tools, start with power, finish by hand. (Insert fleshlight/masturbation joke here). Post up or PM if you need help.
Whoever the seller hired to do our bathrooms made it look nice but did an awful job. They made the shower floors at the same level as the bathroom tile and sloped the floors away from the drain $16k and a week of waking up at 7am begins today. This is terrible I want to go back to bed
This sounds familiar. Can you get away with a new shower enclosure with a corrected slope, or do they have to rip everything up in the bathroom to level?
They have to rip up the tile and put in a 3 inch curb the guest bathroom shower has open doors so the water runs onto the floor and leaks to the garage. The other shower is enclosed but the water just sits because it’s not sloped towards the drain
