Relying to much on my baseball card obsession from 1987-1993 I almost guessed Jimmy Key for Blue Jays 20 game winner but thankfully wasn’t confident so I went with the more obvious Clemens Spent quite a while stumped on a Blue Jay/Pirate. I went through as much as I remembered of the roster from the 2015 Blue Jays-Rangers playoff series and then vaguely remembered Martin playing for the Pirates
Weird which guys still stick out from when I was a kid. First Blue Jays pitcher I thought of was Pat Hentgen, and it worked!
NEW DAY Was-Mil gave me brain damage. Spoiler Fix these damn no pictures, the late Brewers Coach and broadcaster Davey Nelson deserves better.
Random guess of Edwin Jackson (due to that grid someone posted itt) when I had nothing for Nationals/Brewers failed me.
Those are always so tough when you have multiple guys with the same name and you have to figure out the years they played
Got a little lucky on Juan Rincon, wasn’t 100% certain if he played for Cleveland when I threw it out there for my last box
Bob Feller played 28 seasons with Cleveland and retired with the third most K’s ever (at the time). He struck out 2,581 batters. At the time of Bob Feller’s retirement, Walter Johnson was the only member of the 3,000 K club. Walter Johnson retired about 30 years before the Cy Young award was first given out. I guessed both today. Feller was a good guess, but Walter Johnson was a total brain fart. Definitely knew that Cy Youngs started in the 50s.
Thinking of Jim Thome took me ages for some reason. Seeing prior days grids from other people reminded me of Phil Niekro's accomplishments since I had forgotten the magnitude of them.
The Twins being my second favorite team growing up (mom was from St Paul and Kirby Puckett was my favorite player) and playing so much RBI Baseball came in handy today
Sandy Koufax pretty famously retired early, in his peak, because he was sick of playing through pain. His retirement press conference is so matter of fact it's incredible given how long some guys stretch their career.
I always go for the lowest score possible, guessing ones I’m not 100% on. Gets me every time. Spoiler Guessed Chris Hoiles as an All Star for the Orioles and Tim Salmon as an All Star for the Angels.
That's a guy with a really cool story as well. If he could have kept his weight in check, he likely would have had a long, successful career. Spoiler https://sabr.org/bioproj/person/terrell-wade/
