I’ve been as critical of Day as anyone, but these are the type of tough decisions that he needs to make. I applaud him for not taking the easy road when it was evident changes needed to be made. Will it work out? Who knows, but doing nothing would have been a much bigger indictment on him.
I don’t understand the last part. Will it work out? Are we going to be ok with him running off a starter and being worse because he did nothing? Our fanbase is at the point of 11-1 not being good enough. If he brings in someone who is the same or worse I don’t see how that’s better than doing nothing. I am not a McCord is awesome guy, but I am also not doing nothing is wrong because it could seriously backfire. So I seriously hope we have a better plan in place.
Why would Day rolling with a QB he knows isn’t the answer be a better option than moving on to a QB who might be the answer?
What if he is worse? Are you going to be ok with 10-2 just because we tried something? The narrative will be Day really mis handled the portal, not o well at least he tried. He better get it right because no one is going to be happy with he tried.
I get the fear that this might not work out, but I’ll take “might not” over “won’t” 10 times out of 10. Obviously Day isn’t convinced McCord is the guy to get the job done.
There is no chance you will be ok with a worse option next year. Your stance is much more believable if you just say he better get this right. McCord sucks but the new guy better be better than 11-1.
I haven’t seen anything change on the incoming portal front, but my guess is our media is a couple days behind.
New guy better beat UM and make the playoffs. If 10-2 gets that done, idc. Sure we’ll all be pissed off about 2 losses, but all will be forgiven if he beats UM, wins the B1G CG, and makes the playoff. McCord has been here 3 years. And didn’t progress in 12 weeks. He is what he is at this point. And unfortunately for him, that’s not good enough here. CJ Stroud is one of the best QBs ever here. What’s he going to be remembered for? Never beating UM or winning the B1G. it is what it is. Big time ball here.
Talking 12 team playoff is apples to oranges. I don’t want it made to believe that I am a Kyle guy. I am just not do something to do something guy. We better have a better option.
12 team playoff is such a moving a goal post stance. Also not having divisions is going to completely change the conference championship as well. In next years scenario, we would make the playoffs and we would have played Michigan for the conference championship. No one is going to be fine with losing 2 games.
Obviously he’s not willing to commit to McCord because he isn’t convinced he’s the answer. He’s not doing something just to do it.
How quickly does McCord lose his NIL vehicle I’m vested in seeing what he actually drives, I’m guessing it’s a 2011 Highlander
This team needs leadership more than anything. With the talent on our roster, we can beat just about anyone with a smart, decisive leader under center, even if the physical traits are not elite.
I really don’t get why everybody hates on him for the dancing. Get with the times, old guys. everything else about him is fair.
Please just be competitive come February and March. I just hate that part of the calendar and college basketball in general sucks.
Yup. It's enjoyable that they don't suck right now/have some pieces that have made big jumps....but, need a consistent year without a month or two huge dip. That is still very much TBD.
Start hot and fade seems to be the theme of the last few years. Hopefully that changes this year. I will say that I find watching this team much more enjoyable than the last few seasons.
