Chicago has a way better roster Probably higher expectations as they are close to a playoff team Washington’s roster is absolute shit
McLaurin and Allen are closing in on 30, Daron Payne is pretty good. Kendall Fuller is a FA. Can’t name 1 other player I’d consider good, disaster roster but have draft capital and cap space
Franklin will begin to be talked about in that top tier of WRs. I would take him over Rome, something about Rome I don't trust
As an Oregon fan, I would take Rome Odunze over Troy Franklin but maybe I’m in the minority #Oregon Ducks
Andy would never be able to fight off the urge to make Troy the center of gadget plays, for Troy’s sake I hope he doesn’t end up in KC. Rome would kill it though.
I like Wilson more and some talk he may be eventually move to TE. I think Coleman is a top 50 prospect. 17 might be early
100% agree The only thing that Troy *might* be better at is some of his routing running in the intermediate game but that’s really nit picky.
he also publicly mocked Max Duggan for crying after losing in the MNC. He also struck the Heisman on several opponents last year only to collapse into himself like a bitch and avoid the media when he got his ass kicked this season. He's a USC guy so I dont need another reason to dislike him but he's 100% an arrogant douchebag who had no problem showing up his opponents only to run and hide when things got tough.
I hate Mel, but him floating out 1.8 makes me think some smoke might be out there... with that said if we get 1.8 for Fields i'm moving him in a blink of an eye.
What does McCarthy do well? He just seems like a very average QB who hands the ball off and benefits from a massive OL allowing him easy throws 14x a game. Srs question. Just seems like nothing in the NFL. It's no argument for another player
He's going to be the most polarizing QB prospect this year. The different arguments for McCarthy are these: Supporters: He played in a severely run heavy offense that played at a very slow pace, had average WRs and a very ordinary passing scheme. He had very high completion #s and his struggles often came from being put in a lot of situations where he had to make plays behind the sticks to bail out an offense when the run game didn't work. If he got to play in the same offenses those other guys did with better weapons, he would have put up significantly better numbers and people would think higher of him. He's also just about to turn 21 and is at least 2 years younger than Daniels, Penix and Nix. He went 27-1 as a starter with a national title on the resume and basically threw all of his INTs the last two seasons in 2 games. Detractors: He's an average QB whose offense ran the ball so much to keep him from being exposed. His accuracy down the field and outside the numbers is mediocre and his completion percentage is juiced because of short throws underneath to TEs and because Michigan cheated and knew the other team's signs, which meant he knew where it was supposed to go before the play started. His very slight build negates whatever athleticism he possesses because he can't hold up against NFL defenses if he takes those kinds of hits.
There's more to say for both camps, but that's going to be the general gist of them. I'm biased and land more in the supporter camp, but I get the detractors POV on it. I just won't agree with the notion that UM threw it less to try to hide or protect him. That's really not what happened.
McCarthy reminds me of Ridder. He has it all physically - monster arm, good speed and escapability, tons of college success - but they feel so mechanical and inconsistent when i watch them. Ridder had a lot of smart nfl people (imo) think he was going to be good in the league. many of those smart nfl people still believe in him, actually, and think we'd all look at ridder differently but for different red zone turnover luck (mistakes). i have no clue how good any QB will be and think more and more like 60% of a QB's success is dependent on their system + skill talent. I would personally have McCarthy as QB5 right now behind CALEB!, Maye, Daniels, and Nix.
He’s got a plus arm He’s able to make throws off platform He’s able to make quick reads Better athlete than most think Highly productive in the dinosaur of an offense he played in.
Everyone hates Penix now because they watched him twice this year, and the second time he wasn’t as good as the first?
I wish the Saints would trade a 1 for Fields (and Allen) just do I don’t have to watch that duo ever again
Well the Falcons have Ryan Pace in the front office who is notorious for shipping away draft assets. Can only imagine what he would give away for the QB he traded up for as GM to save his job in Chicago. 1.8 might just be the starting point.
I said this in the Bears thread a few weeks ago, people are prisoners of the moment and when Penix crushed Texas people thought this kid was amazing. Ignoring the fact he’s been inaccurate with ball placement and often injured. Add in the fact he only started to dominate when he was much older than competition. You don’t get healthier in the NFL and he’s still got issues as a passer. He’s not a 1st rounder imho. Day 2 would be much safer. I agree with this, still think he’s going to put up impressive combine and pro day that will get him drafted in the top 20.
You mean he only started to dominate when he managed to stay healthy? Dude played well at Indiana and then blew his knee out like 2 or 3 separate times. But yes, injury issues are for sure a concern.
If you don’t believe a 23 year old has an advantage over teenagers and that should be factored in… idk downplay that at your own risk.
But what I’m saying is he played well at Indiana outside of his injury woes that ended his seasons prematurely
